The U.S. now has a new 5.56 AK rifle model and pistol, imported from WBP Rogow, Poland. Kalashnikovs have seen a surge in popularity among American gun owners in recent years. Many young shooters are looking to the platform for their semi-auto rifle. WBP of Poland has remained relatively unnoticed despite this. WBP of Poland is the newest factory that exports AKs to America. However, they are a reputable producer and supplier of Kalashnikovs that are reliable and true-to-spec. Zastava from Serbia appears to be the current leader in the battle for first-time AK buyers. They have models available in both 7.62x39mm Fox and Mini Jack, but WBP is trying to challenge the status quo. Polish company has had their 7.62x39mm Fox, Jack, and Mini Jack models for some time, but they recently began importing 5.56 AK rifles, pistols, and guns. Many AK-enthusiasts are concerned about the future availability Soviet-designed calibers after the Russian ammo ban. This led many to turn to 5.56 AK models to ensure a steady supply. 7.62×39 won’t go anywhere. There will be steady supply from both domestic and foreign producers even if Russian supplies start to decline Stateside. Although it will likely cost more than what we have been receiving from Tula, what isn’t more expensive these day? Despite this, there are more 5.56 AK import options than ever. The WBP Jack 556SR, Mini Jack 556SR, and the WBP Jack 556SR join the small number of models currently available in the U.S. Both the rifle and pistol can be used with standard AKM-pattern furniture. They also have a side scope rail that can be used to mount an optic. Although the 5.56 AK pistol cannot legally accept stock from the factory it does include an underfolder rear trunnion. After paying Uncle Sam the appropriate dues, the 5.56 Mini Jack could legally be converted to an underfolder SBR. Both guns come with 14×1 LH-threaded muzzles. However, the pistol’s muzzle is protected by a spot-welded thread protector. This protector can be legally and easily removed once it is in your possession. The 556SR Jack rifle combines classic AKM features with modern ones. It has an enhanced selector, mag release, and a classic slant-muzzle brake. The rifle’s bayonet lug is still intact. There has been a lot of positive feedback about the new 5.56 AK models released by WBP. Some critics have focused on the fact that the barrels are nitrided instead of chrome-lined, which is something WBP made in-house. Although this is understandable, many forget that chrome-lining has the main benefit of preventing wear from sustained full-auto fire and shooting corrosive ammunition. These guns are intended for civilians who shoot semi-auto with commercial ammo. Nitrided barrels will last as long as chrome-lined ones. MSRP for the WBP Jack 556SR is $1,299 and MSRP for the Mini Jack 556SR is $899, both are available now.For more information on the manufacturer or American distributors, please visit wbprogow.com, atlanticfirearms.com, and armsofamerica.com.More 5.56 AK ImportsThe Polish FB Beryl Rifle from FB RadomThe FB Radom Mini Beryl AK PistolThe Zastava ZPAP M90 RifleThe Zastava ZPAP85 AK PistolNEXT STEP: Download Your Free Storm Tactical Printable Target Pack62 Printable MOA Targets with DOT Drills – Rifle Range in YARDSThis impressive target pack from our friends at Storm Tactical contains62 printable targetsfor rifle and handgun range use.
