TOPS Knives Silent Hero 4, a Refreshment of a Previous Design for Easier Carry

Free Gun Friday: Enter to Win a RUGER(r] LCP(r] MAX and CALDWELL PABLE TARGET KIT Close The original Silent Hero, designed by Anton du Plessis was meant to be used against rhino poachers. The Silent Hero was created to combat poachers. Anton decided that he wanted a smaller version that was easier to carry in his EDC. TOPS Knives responded to the call with the Silent Hero. RELATED STORY Spartan Blades Moros is both a fighter and a combat utility knife. The TOPS Knives Silent Hero4’s blade length is the largest difference between the original and new Silent Hero. The Silent Hero saw a 2-inch decrease in length from the original 6-inch version thanks to the 4-inch cutting edge. The overall length of the Silent Hero 4 has been reduced to 8.88 inches, from 11.25 inches. The Silent Hero 4 is made of the same 1095 high-carbon steel but uses a 1/8-inch stock instead of the original 3/6-inch stock. The Silent Hero 4 also replaces the Black River Wash with a new Sniper Grey. Black canvas Micarta handle weights provide the interface between steel and man. The original scales had the Rocky Mountain Tread. The new version has ergonomic swells to ensure retention. A deep finger notch is located just behind the guard to prevent your hand from sliding onto the blade. The guard also has a lanyard hole that is longer than usual to attach a retention lanyard. Drop point blades are more than a shorter version of the previous model. The Silent Hero 4 has a wider belly and provides more edge in the 4-inch span. It excels in both fieldwork and defense tasks. The removal of the finger choil at the blade is another factor in reducing the length. It moves the hand further away from the blade when whittling, but it keeps the overall package smaller and more EDC-friendly. The Silent Hero 4 comes with a Kydex sheath. This is in contrast to the original which comes in leather. The sheath has Beta Loops with Pull the Dot snaps to allow for scout carrying or any other configuration. Availability The TOPS Knives Silent Hero 4 has a MSRP of $210.00. TOPSKnives.com has more information. TOPS Knives Silent Hero 4 Specs Blade Length: 4.25 inches
