Ruger, Colt and Sig Sauer are the most prominent manufacturers, while dozens of AR-pattern PCCs are made by dozens more companies. Let’s take an in-depth look at the top 10 pistol caliber carbines. RELATED STORY NEW: The California-Legal JARD J68 Pistol Caliber Carbine Bullpup Aero Precision EPC-9 Aero Precision EPC-9 is a modular PCC that can be completely customized. Aero sells EPC-9 parts in complete lowers and uppers or as a stripped lower/upper. The user can customize the parts to their specifications using their triggers, etc. Aero also offers the option to purchase a complete upper/lower and then assemble them. The EPC-9 feeds from standard Glock magazines. For as low as $139, you can get a stripped lower. A complete lower with a stock will cost around $400. 2. SIG MPX PCC – The SIG MX line of pistol caliber carbines is a very popular one. We’ve chosen the competition model, which is available in a variety of configurations, including a compact PDW and a competition-ready PCC. The SIG MPX PCC model is designed by Lena Miculek (world champion PCC shooter), and comes out of the box ready to go for your next match. The Timmy trigger is one of the best features. This means that you don’t need to upgrade your trigger kit. 3. CZ Scorpion Evo Series The CZ Scorpion EVO series is second only to the MPX in popularity. Like other pistols, these can be ordered in either a pistol with a brace, or full-size carbine format. The CZ Scorpion 3+ has just been launched and features some significant updates. CZ also offers a Scorpion equipped with a compensator, specifically for competition shooting. 4. KRISS Vector Is this the KRISS Vector for nostalgia or because it looks cool? Why not both? The Vector was at the forefront of PCC trends, arriving before many platforms. The Vector is now in its second generation, with improved design that makes it easier to shoot. It’s also available in stockless, braced, and full-size 16-inch carbine formats, just like the other guns on this page. It is available in multiple calibers, which is a rare feature among these guns. 9mm is the most popular PCC caliber. However, the KRISS can also be purchased in.40 S&W or its original chambering, which is.45 ACP. 5. Ruger PC Cartbine Fun Fact: The Ruger PC carbine is not Ruger’s first venture into the pistol caliber carbines industry. Older readers will be familiar with the Ruger PC-9, and PC-40 which were developed in the 90s to serve as companion rifles for officers who needed something with a longer range than their pistol. The PC Carbine is the natural evolution from that concept. It is available in a dizzying range of models and also in.40 S&W. Ruger cleverly designed their carbine so that it can accept Ruger pistol magazines or Glock pattern magazines. The Ruger is also a bargain at less than $700. 6. CMMG Banshee The CMMG Banshee is one of the most interesting entries on this list. Our pistol caliber carbines are made to fit the Glock magazine, but the Banshee can be used with either Sig P320 or Glock magazines. The Banshee can be purchased as a braced pistol, as shown in the photo, or as a rifle with a shorter barrel. The Banshee fed ammo that other PCCs choked on, which I discovered while testing the 320 magazine model. Some pistol caliber carbines are not fond of jacketed hollowpoints or flat nosed bullets. But the Banshee was fine. 7. Beretta CX4 Storm. The nostalgia of the Beretta CX4 could also be a reason why it made it onto this list. The CX4 is the prop rifle that was given to the main characters of the Sci-Fi Channel series Battlestar Galactical, which is now 20 years old. The CX4 is the most stylish gun on the list. It can also accept Beretta 92 magazines which are reliable, cheap, and easily available. Beretta doesn’t have a full-auto version of the CX4 in the USA. This gun would be the coolest ever. It’s still quite cool and retails for less that $1,000 when it’s available. 8. JP Enterprises GMR-15 Would You Like to Spend at Least $2,000 on a Pistol Caliber Carbine? It’s a great PCC, but it’s also very expensive. The JP Enterprises GMR-15 PCC is the best for competition shooters who aren’t sponsored or sponsored by any of the companies on this page. I’ve seen one that was fully equipped with a HIPERFIRE trigger, and a few other competition touches. It was amazing. 9. Kel-Tec Sub 2000 The Kel-Tec Sub2000 is a member of the pistol caliber carbine club. It has been around for a while and needs no introduction. It folds in half, which I find really cool. Although it’s not match-ready, it folds in half, which is really cool. It can also take Glock magazines, making it easy to feed, as with most carbines. 10. Hi-Point Carbine Hear me. Hi Point Carbine is a bare-bones model. It costs less than $300 which is a great deal in this market. They tend to run quite reliably for some reason. This is as long as you don’t buy any aftermarket magazines. While I wouldn’t buy one over any other gun on the list, it’s worth 300 bucks and a great way to make some noise and smoke. No matter what rifle you choose, these pistol caliber carbines make for a great day at the range. Sign up for the Personal Defense World newsletter today to stay in the loop!
