Close I’m sure you heard about Biden’s announcement yesterday regarding a new ATF nominee, and more gun control. Nearly immediately after, gun rights groups took the internet to voice their disapproval. The industry reacted quickly and unyieldingly to the announcement by Biden. RELATED STORY: President Biden Announces a New ATF Director Nominee. The Industry Reaction to the Biden Annoucement Signals a 2A Fighting. Yesterday, President Biden announced that a new nominee would be the Director of the ATF. He also included a list of gun control items. Americans are currently struggling with inflation, a open border, and skyrocketing gasoline prices. Etc. This administration continues to focus on disarming law-abiding citizens. He continues to take away the ability to protect our families in a time when violent crime is on the rise. The number of gun buyers who are first-time buyers has increased exponentially over the past two years. The American people are aware that there is something in the air. Beginning with the BLM/Antifa riots in 2000, Democrat-run municipalities have become completely unhinged. What is the solution to all this rising violence crime? It is time to arm law-abiding citizens. Gun rights organizations are not happy about this. It seems that the real fight for the Second Amendment is at our doorstep. Yesterday’s announcement was covered by the NSSF who responded to our coverage. They promise to keep this up. According to the NSSF, the statement reads: “NSSF is also closely watching the submission of the Final Rule (DOJ) to define frames and receivers, which would substantially alter the sale and ownership of not only personally made firearms (PFMs), but many other types and models too.” “NSSF will carefully review the Final Rule to determine if DOJ listened to the industry’s comments that were provided.” This rule, as proposed, radically alters manufacturing and compliance processes for traditional firearms manufacturers, not just the making incomplete, unfinished parts Congress have not chosen to regulate.” A Promise for Action. It is clear that the Firearms Policy Coalition is not going to take any of yesterday’s nonsense seriously. They will fight this battle with urgency. Yesterday’s statement by the FPC stated that “The rule, which raises serious concern about executive overreach, and separation of power, is yet another attack by the Biden administration upon the rights and liberties everyday gun owners.” FPC condemns in strongest terms this attack upon the American tradition home gunmaking and any attempt to disarm or criminalize peaceful people.” However, condemnation is insufficient in a situation where government overreach has become completely out of control. They add that the FPC legal team is currently evaluating the final rule for litigation options. The FPC will also be seeking plaintiffs in near future. The USCCA promises to continue advocating for Americans’ right to defend themselves. Tim Schmidt, founder and president of USCCA, stated that he believes the President and Congress should focus their attention on the real threat facing our communities: The explosion of violent crime, and increasingly empowered criminals. He added, “We challenge the Administration to enforce the laws we have rather than creating new regulations that make it difficult for law-abiding gun owners.” The USCCA will continue supporting and advocating policies that empower more responsibly-armed Americans as their first line of defense. The ATF nominee is not the only problem. The NSSF clarified the criteria for a good nominee. “Any nominee for this post of public trust, that has direct oversight over how law-abiding Americans can exercise their Second Amendment rights, must have a person that is committed to the rule of the law and one that will never politicize the ATF in order to advance a partisan firearm control agenda that exceeds that which is established by law by Congress.” However, FPC stated that they were not happy with the nomination. According to the FPC, they also strongly oppose Steven Dettelbach’s nomination by Biden to lead ATF. Dettelbach’s career has been marked by radical gun-control measures. These include semiautomatic firearm bans, the expansion of mythical “gun free zones” and universal background checks. Anti-rights groups support Dettelbach’s nomination. This is nothing short of a stealth effort by the Biden Administration, to appoint someone with radical gun-control measures like David Chipman. The USCCA said it best: “Nothing the President proposes today will make Americans safe in the face skyrocketing crime because criminals, by definition, do not adhere to the law.” It is disappointing that the President is choosing to double down on ineffective policies rather than supporting law-abiding Americans who just want to protect themselves, their families, and their property.
