SCCY is the Limit for the Budget-Friendly DVG-1RD Concealed Carry

FREE GUN FRIDAY! Enter to WIN THE ALL NEW SIGN Sauer P322, SilencerCo Sparrow(tm), 22 and Caldwell E-Max Shadows Pro Close The best gun you can carry in an emergency is the one that you are carrying. Many people find that carrying a full-size gun is a problem. The challenges are real, from guns that are too large for one’s frame to the inability to make clothing changes to conceal the gun. Concealed carry-friendly pistols like the SCCYDVG-1RD are here to help. RELATED STORY: The SCCYDVG-1RD is now Red Dot Ready and available in ten colors. In such cases, I recommend that shooters opt for a smaller-framed pistol which still has adequate firepower but has a smaller footprint than full-sized guns. The market is full of options and it can be difficult for the uninitiated. Price is another important factor. It is easy to say “Just buy this or that”, but funding pistols can be a difficult task at times. SCCY pistols have dominated this market for many years. SCCY is a well-known brand with its double-action pistols, which are available in over 700 colors. SCCY continues to innovate and now offers a striker-fired pistol. The DVG-1RD pistol is now available in 9mm. Meet and Greet The SCCY DCY DVG-1RD 9mm sub-compact pistol has a 3-inch barrel. First, the gun’s MSRP is only $389. This includes the optic. It produced some very nice groups using a variety of ammunition, which I found interesting. I was impressed by the gun’s ability repeatedly to shoot excellent groups. This gave me cause to pause. The lock-up of small guns of this type is not always perfect. They tend to produce larger, more inconsistent groups. Their lock-up is facilitated by the Roebuck Quad Lock system. The design’s primary purpose is to improve barrel stability as well as accuracy. The DVG-1RD is a little larger than the average pistol. Although it isn’t quite full-size, it isn’t a micro pistol. It is simple to use. It is a balanced weight and size, which helped me manage recoil. The gun’s grip is a good size and holds a staggered 10-round magazine. This small concealed gun has a 10+1 capacity. You will most likely need to fire more than one round at an enemy to achieve the desired results with any handgun. The tactical aspect of the DVG-1RD is enhanced by the fact that I can carry a 10-round staggered mag. Crimson Trace CT-1500 The pistol comes with an optic, not iron sights. Crimson Trace CTS-1500 factory installed, red-dot optic. It features a 3.5 MOA aiming dot and a 20,000-hour battery. It also comes with a three year factory warranty. It is factory-sighted and has no rear sight. A red-dot optic is an addition to the gun that I consider the future handguns. An optic can be a great addition to a handgun. It can help you target more quickly and provide a wider field of view downrange. It can also be helpful for those with less-developed eyes. It can be difficult for those who have been using standard pistol sights for a while to make the transition. Anyone can learn how to use a red dot with some training and knowledge. Test Drive This year, I had the opportunity run the SCCY DVG-1RD at the Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous. This was a great place to get some range time, as it gave me the chance to meet the SCCY team. We shot standard plates and gongs at the regular pistol range. However, we also had the opportunity to shoot steel at 100 and 200 yards. We could not help but to shoot at steel at 100 and 200 yards. We had many “dings” at steel at these distances, much to everyone’s delight. After I returned to Arizona, I was given another pistol to allow me to take a closer look at the gun. The SCCY DVG-1RD was easy to shoot at the range. Even on a day with a high number of rounds, this was the case. This is a crucial factor as you won’t shoot any gun that is too uncomfortable or unfunny. This can lead to decreased skills and increased danger. Real World Drills The dimensions of the pistol are 6 inches long, 5 inches high, and 1-inch wide. This makes it easy to conceal and shoot. Although I would love to say that I shot this little gem from a bench at 25 yards, it was a bit unnecessary. This concealed carry handgun is small and intended for real-world encounters. Its intent is such that I would test it in this capacity. My target was set up at seven yards. All shots were fired from the hand. I made minor adjustments to red-dot zero and soon started getting good groups. My best was just over an in, and all others were close behind. The trigger on this gun was lighter than their other DAO pistols. It weighed in at just over 6 lbs. and had a good reset. The concealed carry zone is where this gun fits. This is the perfect time to share some tips and tricks with those who are new to concealed carrying. The first step is to decide where you will carry. Appendix is the current position. This allows you to quickly access your pistol and can be quite comfortable with the right equipment. This may not be the best option if you plan to sit a lot. You can also carry in the two- or three-o’clock position within the waistband. This is the best carry for me, simply because it fits well. The small of your back is a position I do not recommend. It can be slow to acquire and can cause problems if you end-up on your back. Next is the choice of the right holster. This can be difficult because what might be great for your friend may prove to be a disaster for yourself. Before you spend your hard-earned cash on holsters, borrow them if possible. I know this from personal experience, as I have a whole locker of holsters. I advise you to avoid buying a one-size-fits all rig. Spend a little more and take your time to find a holster that will last. Maintenance is the last thing you need to know about holsters. You must take care of your holster. If your holster is Kydex, you should make sure to check the screws every now and again to ensure they are not loosening. Check for wear and looseness if it is a leather rig. Practice, practice, practice. The last thing I would recommend is to practice. A friend of mine shared with me that she practiced what she called “house carrying.” She put on her rig and learned to carry it in the safety and comfort her own home. She started carrying in public once she felt secure and confident that her concealed carry was true. Drawing from concealment is also a practice. Professional training is also recommended. You will need your gun quickly if things get out of control. It is crucial to know how to clear your clothes and get your gun into combat. Wrap up We must now address the 700-pound gorilla in this room. The SCCY Industries price range is not ideal for serious use or carry. Although I cannot say that one range session is an endurance test, I found the gun to be capable of performing at a pace comparable to guns almost twice its cost. Then, where is the magic? How can a company make a quality gun at a low price? The polymer frame is the biggest factor in the lower cost. They are much cheaper to make and provide a consistent product. It is more than a quick poured piece. The aluminum receiver of SCCY pistols is made from 7075-T6 aluminum billet and fits inside the frame. This makes it strong and durable. This pistol does not have any metal injection molded (MIM), cast, or forged parts. All flat metal parts are stamped. SCCY has done a great job managing the production side of this house. We, the customers, get to enjoy the fruits of their labor and have access to a quality 9mm pistol without breaking the bank. SCCY.com has more information. SCCY DVG-1RD Specs Caliber 9mm
