It has many great features that shooters love. SAR USA has introduced the SAR9 Compact X to address concealed carry. The Compact X promises to be a solid EDC carry CCW, with the same great features as the SAR9, but in a smaller package. RELATED STORY SAR USA SAR9 Compact Pistol Is the Right Size and Right Price The SAR USA SAR9 Compact X Similar to the SAR9 the Compact X has a lightweight polymer frame featuring a single slot Picatinny Rail. The grip comes with an interchangeable backstrap and three additional backstraps to adjust the fit. The grip angle of 20 degrees provides a natural point-of-aiming with superior control and quick second-shot recovery. The slide is a serrated forged steel with Cerakote platinum finish and rides atop the frame. Although the rear cocking serrations look fairly standard, the front serrations have slide lightening holes. A 4-inch hammer-forged barrel is housed in the slide with a recessed crown. The barrel’s low axis-to grip ratio promotes accuracy and reduces muzzle climb. Compact X features a striker-fired action and an ambidextrous safety button. To prevent inertial discharges from occurring if the gun is dropped onto a slide’s rear, the trigger has a tab safety. The gun’s cocking status can be seen clearly by the bright red insert. The Compact X comes equipped with a variety of goodies to help you get started. The package includes a paddle holster and a double mag pouch, magazine loader and an accessory flashlight. The Compact X is chambered in 9mm and comes with two 15-round magazines. If you live in a restricted area, you can opt for the 10-round magazines. Editor’s note: The SAR9 Compact X looks and functions almost identical to the Springfield Hellcat Pro, but is slightly larger. The Compact X has pre-drilled holes that can be used to mount an optic with the Micro Shield footprint. However, the Hellcat Pro is equipped with a dedicated optic cut. The Hellcat Pro can cowite with the right optic, whereas the Compact X requires suppressor-level sights. The Hellcat Pro has the same problem with optics that are too small for the slide cut.
