May 17, 2022Krieger Cut – Rifled Barrels Making — Start to Finish on VideoHow Krieger Building BarrelsThis video shows Krieger Barrels’ process of cutting-rifled barrel-making, one of the most respected barrel producers in the world. Many top shooters favor Krieger’s cut-rifled barrels. They have set many world records. The video shows the complex machines used, including hydraulic riflers and bore-drilling equipment. This video shows how barrels are contoured and polished. It is also a must-see for anyone who is interested in precise rifles. Watch blanks being cryogenically processed, then drilled and turned. The big stuff is the massive rifling machinery that single-point-cuts the rifling in an exact, time-consuming process. You can then see barrels being shaped, polished and inspected (with bore-scope and air gauge). A sequence even shows chambers being cut. Here’s a timeline of the key barrel-making steps shown in the video. You can use the “Pause” button to pause or repeat segments to see specific operations. The numbers on the left indicate playback minutes and seconds.

04:16 – Final Inspection “At the start of World War Two, Pratt & Whitney developed a new, ‘B’ series of hydraulically-powered rifling machines, which were in fact two machines on the same bed. They weighed three tons and required concrete floors that were common in workshops at the time. These hydraulic machines were not readily available on the surplus market, and barrel makers such as John Krieger or ‘Boots’ Obermeyer are now able to purchase them. There are actually fewer ‘B’ series hydraulic riflers than there were of the older Sine Bar’ universal riflers. — Geoffrey Kolbe, Border Barrels.Similar Posts:Tags: Barrel honing, Barrel-making, Cryogenic Barrel, Cut Rifling, Krieger Barrels, Krieger Video
