May 20, 2022The Civilian Marksmanship Program has awarded 142 scholarships to outstanding junior marksmen. The CMP Scholarship Program funds gifted secondary students who graduate high school in 2022 and then enroll in college in fall 2022. Along with a generous $30,000 contribution by the Garand Collectors Association, the CMP gave $178,000 in scholarships for outstanding young people from all over the country. The median grade point average of all the applicants was a remarkable 4.05 — the highest ever recorded in the history the Scholarship program. The applicants came from all 50 states and military stations around the world. These scholarships will be used to pay college expenses for the collegiate term that begins in the fall 2022. Each of these student-athletes received $3,000 in funding. One $5,000 Carolyn Hines Memorial Scholarship was awarded to the top applicant. Top Young Marksman of Ohio Receives $5000 Scholarship
Johnathan Dorsten, Bryan, Ohio has been awarded the $5,000 Carolyn Hines Memorial Scholarship. Johnathan has committed to the Ohio State Pistol Team for the upcoming school-year.
