There is a reason why you are aware of it, and not the shootings that took place in California or Milwaukee. The manifesto of the Buffalo shooter shows that he is a white supremacist. He also used the feared AR-15. It also points out something the media isn’t willing to report. He chose New York because of the AR-15. Media outlets have already used it to call for gun control and decry white superiority. It is also believed to be legitimate by law enforcement. Newsweek reports that law enforcement officials believe that a manifesto online was created by the suspect shooter, identified only as [redacted]” The manifesto allegedly outlines how the shooter planned to “kill all Blacks” and decides to do it in New York because of its strict open carry gun laws. This would make it more difficult for someone to stop him. The security guard is a hero in this case. He was a hero. Detailled Reasoning The manifesto details every detail of the shooter’s plan, down to what he was going for breakfast. Every move and decision was carefully considered. It was clear that he chose New York City and the AR-15 to execute his plan. A TownHall article recently stated, “In [the manifesto], He said New York was ideal because of its restrictive gun laws which meant that his victims were sitting ducks, or if they weren’t, hardly had any capacity to stop him.” A recent Twitter thread by independent journalist Tom Elliot also includes screen captures from entries from the manifesto. The shooter clearly stated in one entry that New York’s gun laws make it easy to target. He then states that he used his AR-15 to gain media coverage. The shooter stated that New York has “cucked gun laws.” He also stated that civilians cannot own assault style weapons or high-capacity magazines, which lowers the threat from law-abiding civilians. This is why I chose one. High-capacity magazines and ammunition that does enough ballistic damage to kill effectively can be used. Even in New York City, the AR-15 is easily accessible and can be modified to kill. The media loves to hate the AR-15, which may increase media attention and public outrage.” Emphasis mine. The idea that magazines can be expanded is not going to stop mass shootings. To be clear, the shooter was a teenager who knew how to illegally modify his rifle. “Since my address is in New York City, and I’m only 18, I cannot legally buy a lower or standard ‘assault weapon.'” People who intend to harm others will do harm. They will not be stopped by any law. In fact, the reverse is true. Gun control laws are unavoidable and only aid violent criminals in their crimes. This is why they target gun-free areas and why the states with the most anti Second Amendment laws have the highest number of shootings. This won’t stop gun control politicians pushing for more of those same laws that the shooter claims have helped him. They will continue to double down, resulting in more deaths.
