There is an old wives’ tale. It falls under the illusory reality effect, which is the tendency after repeated exposure to false information to believe it as fact. This phenomenon was first discovered in 1977 by Temple and Villanova universities. In 2015, researchers discovered that familiarity can overpower rationality. Research in 2015 showed that familiarity can overpower rationality. It could be due to the fact that many gun professionals own 1911s. Legendary gunners such as Ken Hackathorn, Bill Wilson, and Jeff Cooper are all examples. These gentlemen are skilled gunners, and it’s not hard to see why they are associated with the 1911. Weighing about 35 ounces, a full-size 1911 is approximately 35 ounces. It will weigh in at 2 1/2 pounds when fully loaded. Only 1/10th of a pound is the difference between a fully loaded Glock 21 in.45 Auto and a fully loaded Glock 21 in.45 Auto. The Glock 30 is smaller, but the alloy-framed commander-sized 1911 is the best 1911 for concealed carry. It weighs in at about the same weight as the Glock 30. Yes, I know that Glocks can hold more ammo. But we are referring to weight and not capacity. Experts claim that the manual thumb safety on a 1911 makes it difficult to use. This is absurd. Even the most dumbest people can flip switches. Otherwise, they would live in darkness. Deactivating the thumb safety as the handgun is being rotated from the holster to the target is so simple, well, a caveman could do it.One advantage of the thumb safety is that, when used as intended, the chance of a negligent discharge while holstering is nearly non-existent.Additionally–and this might be the most important aspect of the manual safety–its proper management is one of the best ways to prevent shooting yourself in the ass cheek or leg. Self-inflected gunshot injuries are most common when holstering with one finger on the trigger. An activated thumb safety means that holstering with a finger on trigger will not cause loud noises or a pain in the backside. This feature was added to prevent the handgun’s accidental firing if it is not securely held. Some shooters may have difficulty fully depressing grip safety. However, there are extensions that can make it easier. Also, you can switch from an arched mainspring housing to a flat one. The grip safety is what helps you grip the handgun correctly. It prevents the gun from firing if you don’t have the right grip. It’s true. An inexpensive 1911. There are many 1911s on the market that don’t work right out of the box. They’re also prone to breaking. Recently, I was able to work with a 1911 made in Turkey that was imported into the United States through SDS Imports. They can be purchased for as low as $400 and are as good as or better than the Colt pistols that cost twice as much. Buyer beware, there are lemons out there. Do your research. Top-notch triggerThe single-action trigger is what makes the 1911 so great for competition and match guns. It is very easy to use. The trigger moves backwards and requires only 3 to 4 lbs of pressure to release the seal. The most difficult aspect of shooting a handgun is pulling the trigger correctly. It takes 3 to 4 pounds of pressure to release the sear. A 1911 trigger might be the easiest to learn how to pull. It might not be difficult to pull for a beginner. It is possible, if they follow Rule 3. Keep your finger off of the trigger until you are aiming at the target. It is a popular choice among professionals and experts. The 1911 is not for beginners, however. If your firearms instructor says so, find another one. He may be seriously underestimating your abilities and perhaps trying to show his superiority by suggesting that you must be good enough to shoot the gun I use. But, for whatever reason, the 1911 might be not the right gun for you. You might not like it, or it might not fit in your hand. All of these reasons are valid and it’s okay. However, the idea that the 1911 is not for beginners is wrong.
