Over the past two years, “mostly peaceful protests” have revealed a new dangerous tactic: blinding officers with lasers. This is a malicious tactic that can cause irreparable damage and has already claimed the sighting of some officers. Not to mention the many pilots who have been at the receiving end laser pointers in recent years. Gatorz Eyewear has launched its Laser Defender Technology to combat this dangerous tactic.

Gatorz Ballistic Glasses With Laser Defender Technology
The company’s two most popular Ballistic frames, Magnum and Specter, now have the new technology. Gatorz used high-impact polycarbonate lenses that are durable and light-absorbing, and infused them with a special dye. The glasses block harmful and common wavelengths of laser light, thus protecting eyes.
There are four types of lasers available, each with a different wavelength variation. The Daytime lens has a 23% visible light transmission (VLT). The low-light lens has a 40% VLT. The Infrared lens offers 51% VLT. Finally, depending on how much light is available, the low-light lens can shift between 40% and 12% VLT.
Each lens provides protection against the various laser wavelengths. These include invisible infrared, red, green, violet and blue.
The frames are made from lightweight, durable, aircraft-grade billet 7075 T6 aluminum, just like all Gatorz ballistic eyewear. Each frame offers excellent coverage and is adjustable to your preference for maximum comfort.
The lenses also comply with ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 2015 standards and meet MIL PRF 3232A, Clause 4.8.4 ballistic fragmentation protection. The lenses have been impact tested to withstand two hits by a.15 caliber projectile at 700-725 FPS. They are not cracked, shattering or dislodged.
Editor’s Note:
This may not be necessary for civilian use, but who knows when people will be able to point lasers in their eyes? The cost of the new technology is not going to increase, so it’s not a major issue. If you’re looking for new ballistic glasses, don’t hesitate to invest in the extra protection. These days, kids are constantly looking for silly and potentially dangerous TikTok challenges.
