Retro Builders rejoice: H&R AR Parts Now Live

It was discovered that JJE, the parent company of Palmetto State Armory had acquired NoDak Spud and the rights to Harrington & Richardson. For those who haven’t dived into the world of retro AR-15s, NoDak Spud has been the primary source for historically-accurate AR-15 receivers for many years. NoDak was the best place to start a clone or replica of an AR-type police or military rifle from the 1960s through the 1980s. H&R was also the first manufacturer of M16 rifles and many of them were used in Vietnam. This merger will allow H&R to mark receivers without any copyright concerns. By combining NoDak Spud’s know-how with the legally-owned H&R brand name and JJE’s production capacities, it means that some very historically-correct, mass-produced retro AR rifles and parts are about to become a reality.While the new H&R promises that nearly the full catalog of old NoDak Spud components will eventually become available, tooling up to do so will take some time. The company started with M16A1 parts and the first batch H&R-marked lower receivers were listed on July 22nd. The parts sold out quickly, which was something many builders had expected for some time. However, it is a clear sign that production has officially started. The next component to be released is the A1 uppers. Complete rifles will also be available, such as the M16A1 which was displayed at SHOT Show 2022. A2-series, C7, and other experimental receivers are also rumored to be in development. While retro ARs have become more popular in recent years, the market has been lacking affordable parts to make them.
