The Limited Edition Purple Heart Colt 1911 by SK Customs
The Colt 1911 is just as honorable and iconic as the men and woman who gave so much for this country. It makes sense that the Colt 1911 would be the foundation for a piece paying homage to these heroes.
The Badge of Military Merit, which was first given the Purple Heart in 1782 (240 years ago), was issued by General George Washington. The medal could be awarded for any single meritorious act. It was reintroduced in 1932 as the Purple Heart Medal to honor bravery and wounded soldiers.
The Colt 1911 Series 70 in.45 ACP is the basis of the Purple Heart Limited Edition. It features the medal’s history as a hallmark. This pistol is a Purple Heart edition pistol with a high-quality slide and frame. The eye-catching contrast between the important message and the hardware is enhanced by 24K gold-plated hardware.
The slide’s right side has intricate flourish engraving. It is surrounded by a 24K-gold-plated rope. A rope border contains a 24K-gold-plated scroll with the text, “A Grateful nation Honors and Remembers.” Also, just behind the cocking serrations, is a scroll with a special edition number, 001 through 240.
The slide’s reverse side features a similar design, with two scrolls that read, “All gave some, and some gave all.”
The slide’s top features the modern Purple Heart, with scrolls indicating “240th Anniversary” just below the front sight. The signature and Badge of Military Merit of George Washington can be found just ahead of the rear sight. The front sight is elegantly completed by a genuine purple sapphire.
Faux ivory grips finished off the motif with embedded custom-made medallions replicas of today’s Purple Heart.
Minted Coin and Proceeds
Each pistol will come with an uncirculated West Point Minted National Purple Heart Hall of Honor 20022 Proof Silver Dollar. The silver dollar will include the West Point “W”, mint mark and a certificate d’authenticity, signed by the Director at the U.S. Mint.
SK Customs also partnered with Purple Heart Homes, Purple Heart Integration Project and Purple Heart Homes. The company will donate a portion from the proceeds to each foundation. SK Customs will donate a pistol to each foundation as part of their upcoming fundraising events.
