August 17, 2022. In response to a unprecedented, partisan attack against the firearm industry, led by the Democratic administration, Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. President & Chief Executive Officer Mark Smith said this week: “A number of politicians, their lobbying partners and the media have recently sought out to disparage Smith & Wesson. Some have suggested that Smith & Wesson and other firearm makers are responsible for the rise in crime that has been predicted after they have demonized, undermined, and defunded law enforcement for many years. They also supported prosecutors who refuse criminals accountability for their actions, facilitated the decline of our nation’s mental health infrastructure and promoted a culture that encourages lawlessness. They are to blame for the increase in violence and lawlessness. They seek to avoid responsibility by trying to shift the blame to Smith & Wesson and other firearm manufacturers and law-abiding guns owners.
It’s not surprising that cities most affected by violent crime are those that promote irresponsible, soft on-crime policies that often view criminals as victims and criminals as criminals. These same cities also have the strictest gun laws in America. Instead of confronting the failure of their policies some politicians sought to restrict the 2nd Amendment rights law-abiding citizens while simultaneously continuing the erosion of our institutions of law, order, and law. To hide the truth, some are now seeking to ban firearm manufacturers and supporters from advertising firearms in a way that reminds law-abiding citizens that they have a Constitutional rights to bear arms for defense of themselves and their family.

We will continue to work with law enforcement, community leaders, and lawmakers who are truly interested in creating safe neighborhoods. We will only engage those who are interested in productive discussions and not just for political points. We will continue informing law-abiding citizens that they have a Constitutionally-protected right to defend themselves and their families.
