From the Old West to The Silver Screen: Upcoming RIAC Prime Auction

The Rock Island Auction Company auctions feature a wide range of interesting firearms. The RIAC Premier Auction scheduled for the weekend of the 26th of September is no exception. RIAC gave me a virtual tour of their auction floor so that we could show off some of the most interesting items they have. These highlights are for serious collectors who want to bid, or those who just love looking at rare, historical, and sometimes very pricey firearms. 2 Old Army RevolverWild Bill Hickock, an Old West legend, is known for his favorite sidearm, S&W Model No. 2 Old Army Revolver was also legendary. The documentation supporting the previous ownership of this particular model is included in the auction. Although the revolver is quite plain with a standard blued finish, 6 inch barrel and rosewood grips it is expected to fetch at least $150,000 due to its provenance. RIAC also stated that the auction could feature one of their most significant collections Colt Single Action Armies. If Old West collectors show up in large numbers, Wild Bill’s revolver may sell for as much as $150,000. Angelina Jolie used these matching H&K USP9 Match pistols as her “hero guns” in Lara Croft, Tomb Raider 2001. Even though the film may not have the same fan following as Star Wars, iconic movie guns are always desirable, especially if the primary examples were used on screen. These guns are expected to fetch at least $25,000 at auction. These H&Ks can be identified by their serial numbers, but also by the unique modifications that were made to allow the actress dual-wield them. Both H&Ks come with modified barrels that allow only the firing of blank cartridges. However, they could be reverted back to their original functional states with new barrels. Han Solo’s blaster from Star Wars: A New Hope is undoubtedly the most famous firearm in this auction. Several DL-44 blaster props were made for Harrison Ford to use in the original trilogy. This means that some DL-44s have a higher value and are therefore more rare than others. It is the most sought-after model that is available for sale, as it can be traced back to the 1977 film and is made of a real Mauser C96. This prop was made from a replacement DL-44 and sold at auction for $550,000 in 2018. This C96, like the Tomb Raider pistols was modified to only fire blanks. The RIAC Premier Auction will take place from August 26th through 28th. Bidding is available online and in person. It is worth noting that RIAC Premier Auctions are open to anyone who lives near it, even if they don’t intend on buying anything. The show floor is open for the public and is set up in the same way as a museum exhibit. Some of the most notable displays include information. From historically significant pieces to experimental designs, movie props to transferable machineguns, the RIAC catalog will never fail to make you drool. If you’re interested in participating in the auction, more information can be found at rockislandauction.com.More Historical Firearms:NEXT STEP: Download Your Free Storm Tactical Printable Target Pack62 Printable MOA Targets with DOT Drills – Rifle Range in YARDSThis impressive target pack from our friends at Storm Tactical contains62 printable targetsfor rifle and handgun range use.
