This clearly didn’t go according to plan. This Chicago native seems to believe that every state should arm innocent civilians and empower criminals. The man is also soft on crime policies. The man quickly learned that a shotgun is not an option in a Florida convenience store. Toto, you’re not in Chicago any more.
Chicago Man with a shotgun in a Florida store – What does this tell us about Armed Civilians?
The suspect entered the store at 10:25 pm carrying a shotgun and trying to conceal it with his body. The suspect walked slowly and nonchalantly in front of the counter, apparently waiting to be greeted by a clerk. The clerk was not expecting anything.
The employee apparently watched the suspect arm and exit the store before going into the back to retrieve his firearm. Things changed when the clerk returned with his gun. Most likely because the suspect realized that he wasn’t in Chicago anymore and that people in Florida have guns.
At this point, they began to converse.
“I see you bro. The suspect says, “I don’t mean any harm. I’m just from around here.”
The clerk, not shaken, asks: “What do you have in your hand bro?”
The suspect replied, “I got a big-a** Motherf**king pistol,” and he showed his gun. He continued, “But, I’m not from here, is all I’m saying.” Bro, I’m from Chicago and I don’t know [undecipherable] what’s outside.
I don’t know if he was trying make the argument that he was carrying it as protection because he’s afraid or not. He asked the clerk for his identification and was informed that it was a.45. The clerk then told him to go.
According to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Facebook release, “Words seem fail you when your crime attempt is thwarted with lawful and righteous forces.”
Thankfully, everything turns out well and the suspect is left feeling content.
Another win for a man who is a good man with a gun
Unfortunately, the suspect was not satisfied.
You are not in Chicago anymore; you are under arrest
The suspect learned the hard lesson that Florida’s citizens are armed. He also learned that Florida is tough on crime.
The County Sheriff’s Facebook post states that the suspect was “located and arrested on 9/15/22 Santa Rosa County.” He was charged with openly possessing a prohibited weapon and attempted robbery using a firearm. The Benelli shotgun, which was used in the robbery attempt, was also recovered.”
The Sheriff had one final thought for the suspect: “You’re not in Chicago anymore; your under arrest.”
This clerk was fortunate that this was not Chicago, where he would have been unarmed and would face little to no consequences. Or, this could have gone completely differently.
Lesson learned: Guns save lives on a daily basis, and not every situation requires shots to do so.
