In every school in this Pennsylvania School District, a shotgun and an AR-15 are available

In recent years, there have been many stupid trends. TikTok is often involved in some way. But there is one trend I can get on board with. The trend to place an AR-15 in every school is a new one. I reported earlier this year on a North Carolina school system that did exactly that. A Pennsylvania school district is now adding a shotgun with an AR-15 to its arsenal.

A new trend is emerging: Every school should have an AR-15

It is not exaggerated to say that the country is on the verge of collapse and that violent crime is increasing. Unfortunately, schools are not immune. Many school districts are trying to find ways to increase security and protect their children. This seems to be a new trend in arming schools.

This is the case in Pittston, Pennsylvania, in Luzerne County. Recently, the district placed an AR-15 and shotgun at each school.

PAHomePage reports that the Pittston Area Schools District equipped its school’s police officers using the same caliber weapons in the wake of recent school shootings with semi-automatic weapons.

The new policy applies to all four schools in the area, and firearms will be kept in a safe. The PAHomePage was assured by Kevin Booth, Superintendent of Pittston Area School District. The safes are protected with thumbprint security. The safes are only accessible to the school’s police officer. To prevent theft, each safe is bolted against the wall or the floor.

Tom Kelly, School Resource Officer, told PAHomePage that he was armed with a pistol and a handgun. A pistol has its limits. An AR-15 is able to fire accurately with precision at a range of distances and ammunition.

Kelly continued, “Each weapon serves its purpose, so it’s nice to have one available, rather than having to call 911 and wait for them from other police agencies, which they will, it’s just pleasant to know that they are right here.”

Additional security measures are being implemented at schools in addition to the new firearms. Door alarms are installed to notify school police officers and the administration if a door is left unlocked for too long.

Not the First, and Hopefully not the Last

This seems to be a growing trend that I can get on board with, as I mentioned earlier. More people have adopted the common-sense approach to education since I wrote about the North Carolina school district earlier in the year.

The Houston Independent School District was one of them, with $2.3M in new funding. The funds will be used to purchase 200 rifles, 200 bulletproof shields, rifle ammunition, as well as two-way radios and two-way radios to support the 200 officers in the district. It passed with a vote of 6-3. However, it was met by controversy. However, fortunately, sensible heads prevailed.

Brevard County in Florida is also arming school officers using long guns. Brevard County officers carry KelTec Sub 2000’s with them for quick access. According to Wayne Ivey, Sheriff of Brevard County, the intent is to confront violence with violence.

Ivey assures students, parents, and staff that, while I hope it never happens, I can assure them that our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office School Resources Deputies will win the battle for our children and teachers! !”

The Indian River County School district in Florida has also added an AR-15 to every school. Florida River Sheriff Eric Flowers delivers a message that I believe resonates with us all. It is the best way to close this story.

“If they come at us with an AR-15 we’re going back with the same or more firepower.

He concluded, “Our folks will protect the children.” Our folks bring guns, they’re the good men. Bad guys will find our guns if they show up with guns. They’ll find out that we are well prepared and prepared for this threat.

All the best.
