Hornady Expands Ammunition Lines For 2023

Hornady just announced several new and expanded ammunition line for 2023. These range from 7.62x39mm subsonics, to the company’s new 7mm PRC bullet. Hornady has now announced expansions to several existing ammunition lines, including three loads to the new 7mm PRC cart. The new 7mm PRC cartridge can fire 160- to 180-grain bullets at speeds of 3,000 fps. PRC stands for Precision Rifle Cartridge, and Hornady describes 7mm PRC as something that fills the gap between 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC. It can fire 160- to 180-grain bullets at 3,000 fps. The new cartridge can also be fired from a 7mm Remington. Mag. Mag. Mag. rifle with nothing more than a barrel swap.Hornady will be initially offerring 7mm PRC as a 160-grain CX Outfitter load, a 175-grain ELD-X Precision Hunter load and a 180-grain ELD Match load.OutfitterOutfitter is Hornady’s line of rugged, watertight ammunition that’s designed to survive rough conditions on backcountry hunts. Three new bullet weights and calibers have been added to the line. The Outfitter line includes a 150-grain load that can be used with both.308 Winchester or.30-06 Springfield, in addition to the 7mm PRC. These cartridges were previously only available in 165- and 180 grain loads. All ammunition in the Outfitter line is loaded with Hornady’s monolithic copper, expanding CX bullets.SuperformanceLike the Outfitter line, Hornady also expanded the number of Superformance offerings by adding 150-grain CX loads of both .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. The Superformance line, unlike the Outfitter line of ammunition, is designed to increase your ammo’s muzzle velocity without increasing chamber pressure or recoil. The line now includes a 50-grain CX load in.223 Remington. Critic DefenseHornady’s renowned Critical Defense line of self defense ammo also received some love, now featuring the 30 Super Carry cartridge. It is loaded with a 100-grain FTX bullet for handguns and has a muzzle velocity advertised at 1,250 fps. It’s being marketed as the newest cartridge for conceal carry and has a muzzle velocity of 1,250 fps.Handgun HunterThis ammunition range is clearly designed for handgun hunting. However, it is a huge one–500 S&W Magnum. This is the heaviest option in our lineup, loaded with a 300-grain Monoflex Bullet. For those with an affinity for hand cannons, this will provide them with a very powerful new choice.Hornady BLACKThe Hornady BLACK line is designed for optimal performance from America’s favorite firearms, which is why the line’s newest caliber is a bit surprising–4.6x30mm. Although there are not many guns that can chamber the cartridge, there are plenty. Shooters will have a reliable Hornady Black load to choose from. It is loaded with a 38-grain V.Max bullet. SubsonicThe Subsonic line now features a 255 grain Sub-X 7.62x39mm load. This is great news for anyone who used to shoot this caliber suppressed.
