November 2022 – New Guns and Gear

You are looking for a new iron, or a piece of equipment to improve the one you have? German Precision Optics SpectraDotBest-known for its offerings in hunting, German Precision Optics has expanded its knowledge in the field of red-dots. The results are amazing. The SpectraDot is a rugged little optic that can compete with the best red-dots. The 3-MOA aiming system’s highly efficient power management system that can extract 50,000 hours from a single battery is what really grabs attention. It also offers six-day and five night brightness settings, as well as sensitive 0.5-MOA per-click adjustments for windage or elevation. The SpectraDot comes complete with a Picatinny mounting. The EFLX is an excellent addition to EOTech’s product line. It can be used as a primary sight, backup sight, or for any other purpose. The American-assembled red dot is affordable enough for most shooters to add it to their arsenal. The Leupold DeltaPoint mini reflex sight is designed to fit many slide cuts. However, you can also order it Picatinny-rail compatible. The red-dot is available in 3 MOA and 6 MOA. It also comes with a slew of useful features that shooters will appreciate. These include 20,000 hours of battery life and a large window. In certain situations, such as dressing a deer or troubleshooting an automobile that has broken down at night, it is important to have both flashlights and weapon lights. Fenix’s well-designed HM60R headlamp does more than deliver on this. The headlamp is rechargeable and can produce 1,200 lumens at its highest setting. It also features a spotlight for long distance illumination, a floodlight with neutral light for better color rendering, as well as a red light that can be used for close-up tasks and night vision. The best part is that the headband system is designed to fit snugly on the head and keep the light in the right place. Crimson Trace has condensed many of the essentials into one handy accessory, rather than overloading your carbine with them all. The RIG is basically a forward hand-stop, but with a 500-peak lumen flashlight. It’s very easy to use and intuitive. The RIG is compatible with M-Lok systems and comes with an optional pressure switch – if you prefer to roll that way. It also de-clutters your carbine in a single sweep. MSRP: $205Sightron S6 1-6x24mm IR4AA While not a bargain-basement option for LPVO, the S6 is a great value. The S6 delivers on performance, features, and options. The scope’s Japanese glass is the most notable. It has a crystal clear field of view, making it easy to do intermediate work at close quarters. Its low profile is a bonus, making it easy to maneuver your carbine. The choice of first- or second-focal planes reticles, with drop compensation and lead marks on FFP–offers a solution for almost all shooters. Sightron has made sure that the S6 is waterproof and shockproof. The Duty RDS was introduced this year. The 2 MOA sight is still expensive relative to the rest, but it is priced right for those who are willing to spend the extra money for a genuine Aimpoint. The investment is worthwhile as the red-dot can be as tough as any other company’s offering and is on target. Aimpoint’s standard rigmarole applies to this duty–30,000 hours battery life, 10 brightness levels (four of which can be used night vision compatible), crystal clear glass, and more rugged than most people require. Aimpoint also includes a mount and spacer. Nice. MSRP: $499Leica 32mm Geovid rangefinding binocularThe Geovid binos can do just about everything, except kill and dress deer. The optic delivers stunning images and also includes geo-tracking technology. This is a lot of data that you will receive each time you survey the field. These features include the ability to read distances up to 2,500 yards, and the GPS communication via Bluetooth to Leica’s ballistic app. It can also integrate with third-party mapping applications. The best part is that the entire Geovid system is only 28 ounces in weight, making it easy to use in the field.
