First Look: Canik SFx Rival-S

Canik recently announced the SFx Rival S, a new, steel-framed version of its SFx Rival 9mm pistol. Concealed carriers have been enjoying the advantages of lighter pistols as handguns have shifted towards polymer construction. Many wanted more control when the same materials were introduced to the competition market. Canik is the latest company that has addressed this issue. It introduced the SFx Rival-S, a heavier, all-steel version to the original polymer SFx Rival 9mm pistol. Recoil should be less noticeable than the 1.84-pound polymer version. The flat-faced trigger breaks at 90 degrees for competition shooters, and the optics-ready slide will be a big hit with them. Each pistol will come with two 18-round magazines, three sizes each of interchangeable backstraps or magazine release extensions, and an external magwell. There are also two aluminum baseplates. The guns will also include a fiber optic front view and five optics plates that can be used with almost any pistol red dot. The package ships in a waterproof hard case and will be available from Canik in the next month.
