Fold-N-Go: The Double FoldAR Pistol is Easily Portable and Can Be Taken Anywhere

AR pistol manufacturers have been working for years to make their guns more compact and smaller, just like handguns. We’ve seen smaller components and guns that can be disassembled with just a few twists. FoldAR’s double-folding AR pistol is changing the game. The Double FoldAR Pistol is a Game-changer. All other ideas and designs seem to have died quickly and never really caught on. These designs are notoriously slow to deploy and/or unreliable. They sound great on paper, but they don’t translate into real-world applications. I am a huge fan of AR pistols and a nerd for innovation. One day, I was surfing the internet and found a company that takes compact to a whole new level. It may change the way we view AR pistols forever. FoldAR is that company. Corby Hall, an engineer and owner of FoldAR, is no novice to designing guns. Corby has a solid background in the industry having helped LWRCI design its REPR back in 2005. He also helped to design the LWRCI REPR in 2005. Corby brought all of his knowledge and experience to his new company and launched the Double FoldAR Pistol. The Double FoldAR pistol represents the pinnacle of compact AR technology. It has a Dead Foot Arms folding stock and a patented folding top. This allows for maximum concealment without compromising performance, reliability, weight or safety. The company is veteran-owned, and most of the parts are made in-house. Anything that isn’t made in-house must also be proudly manufactured in the United States. Otherwise, it won’t fit on the gun. The Double FoldAR AR pistol is the smallest ever made. The pistol is identical to any other AR pistol, with the exception of the pull string that hangs on the side. It folds down to just under 10 inches in length and can be carried in a small sling-style backpack for easy concealment and transportation. For even faster deployment, you can fold the pistol with a full magazine inside. The pistol’s MSRP is $2,400. This is quite high in today’s market, but it is not too bad considering what you get. Folding the Double FoldAR All you need to do to fold the pistol is press a small steel button at the bottom of your brace. This will fold the brace in. To open the locking lever hook assembly, pull the tab at the rail’s side. This will release the barrel and rail from their rest and allow them to swing over using a little locking device that fits into the rail. It takes only seconds to open and close the pistol. To accommodate the brace’s folding capabilities, the pistol features a modified and shorter Bootleg, Inc. Adjustable Gas Bolt carrier group. The gun comes standard equipped with an ALG Defense QMS Trigger and M-Lok rail. FoldAR’s pistol stabilizing brace is also included. The Double FoldAR ships with a tactical side-pack, which fits the pistol perfectly and the 20-round Magpul PMAG in its magazine well. You can store additional magazines, ammo and knives in the extra storage. The FoldAR: Shooting the FoldAR. We could talk endlessly about the features, but the real question is how does it run. I had the exact same question when I first received the gun. It was not something I had high hopes for. The Double FoldAR is very well built and feels great. The fit, finish, and overall build quality impressed me immediately. This thing was not going to work. It folds at both the barrel and the stock. Will it shoot? It shoots, that’s the simple answer. It not only shoots, but it also chews up and spits everything you throw at it with extreme accuracy every single time you unfold it. The pistol shoots like any other AR pistol. It was capable of firing around 1,500 rounds, despite two malfunctions. Both were caused by the.223 reloaded ammunition I purchased at a gun-and-knife show. It also had issues with two ARs I tried it in. Due to current times and ammo still being a nightmare I ran a mixture.223 and 5.56 factory loads and one very bad reload. When it comes to ammo, a deal isn’t always a deal. Federal, Hornady and Ficchi ammo were used in the pistol’s ammunition. Bullets weighing between 52 and 80 grains were used. Performance Results Overall, the Double FoldAR averaged 1.5 inch, five-shot groups at 25 yards from a standing position. The same results were achieved when I extended it to 50 yards using the Magpul flip-up MBUS sight set. To see if accuracy was affected, I folded and unfolded the gun multiple times. I didn’t notice any difference. It truly impressed me. It acts as if it never was folded into a small 10-inch package. It runs regardless of what. I live in Michigan and began playing with the gun in the fall. The gun continued to work outdoors in the winter, which, if you know Michigan well, is all in one day. It didn’t matter what weather conditions were outside, the gun worked regardless. To make it a little faster, I added a TruGlo reddot sight to the rail between the flip up sights. The TruGlo is so low that it disappears once the Magpul flip-ups have been raised. This setup works well for me because I can choose between iron sights and a red dot. Simple & Discreet. I didn’t do any distance testing as the gun was designed for personal defense. The fact that you can lock the bolt and keep the pistol in your backpack with a full 20-round cartridge loaded is a great feature. It is easy to deploy the pistol by dropping the bolt and having a full 20-round magazine loaded. The design, pack setup, reliability, and ease of use I had with this pistol have made it my go-to truck gun. This pack is ideal for a quick grab-and-go. I added a Medical Kit from Active Carry Technologies to my pack’s front, along with my Ruger LCP in the back pocket in an old leather pocket holster that I had lying around. I have room for extra loaded magazines for the AR and handgun. The upper pocket on the pack’s front holds my S&W knife. I keep this pack in my truck so that if anything happens, it is always at my fingertips and ready to go. A pack like this would normally reveal the contents immediately because it contained an AR-15. This pack is easy to grab and go thanks to the FoldAR’s concealability. The pack is easy to grab discreetly whenever I get out the truck. With my Concealed Pistol License from Michigan, I can legally carry the pack with me. I bring the pack home from work every night and keep it near my bed so I can get out of the truck in time for the morning. This setup is amazing. I didn’t think it was possible, but the Double FoldAR made this possible. If you’re looking for an AR pistol, and can afford the Double FoldAR, it is worth considering.
