VMR: Target shooting with vintage military rifles – The Civilian Marksmanship Program has published VMR: Target shooting with vintage military rifles, a detailed book by Gary Anderson (Director of Civilian Marksmanship). Gary Anderson was a world-class marksman and won two Olympic Gold medals in rifle-shooting. The CMP claims that this illustrated 284-page book is “likely” the most comprehensive ever written on the techniques of competing with vintage American and foreign military rifles. This 18-chapter book will be a hit with vintage rifle enthusiasts. Christie Sewell, CMP Programs chief, said that it is likely that readers of vintage military rifles will find it “to be the most comprehensive coverage of the topic, both from a competitor’s perspective and historian’s perspective.” Anderson has the credentials: he won Olympic Gold Medals at Tokyo and Mexico City in 1960s. Gary also holds numerous international and U.S. records. Anderson, the original creator of the CMP’s vintage rifle competition program, created a detailed manual that covered all aspects of shooting vintage military rifles. The book covers 1903 Springfield and U.S. Krag as well as 1917 U.S. Enfield, M1 Garand and M1 Carbine, among many other rifles, from “across pond”. “Target shooting with vintage military rifles Topics:Origins & Fundamentals of Marksmanship
