February 10, 2023AR-platform rifles are very dirty. The gas system blows powder and carbon residues back into your action and into your bolt carrier group. You need to clean your ARs frequently and pay particular attention to the bolt and bolt carrier. Most AR failures we have seen are due to a combination of lube and carbon as well as tiny brass shavings that got into the extractor spring recess or ejector recess. A gun-stopper can also be caused by carbon buildup on the bolt. You also need to clean the barrel extension. These videos are provided by Froglube, who offer two helpful videos for those new to the world of ARs. This line of cleaners/lubes are pretty good, but not the best for cleaning and lubricating ARs. But these videos do provide many helpful tips. These videos show the disassembly process, and highlight areas that need special attention. Froglube also produces a video that shows AR upper, chamber, barrel cleaning. We do not recommend the following practices. We do not recommend Froglube products to clean bores. We believe there are better cleaning products.
