February 14, 2023Valentine’s Day 2023 — Best wishes
Today is Valentine’s Day. Ron B., a Forum member, tested a rifle at the range several seasons ago. Snakepit, aka Ron B., managed to shoot a 3-shot group that would make Mr. Cupid proud. Ron shot a beautiful cluster that formed a sweet heart in the splatter target. Ron’s three-shot, heart-shaped group was shot at SIXHUNDRED yards. This makes it a Valentine’s Day Masterpiece in precision shooting (and, we must say, quite a bit of luck). Good Shootin’ Snakepit! 600-Yard Heart Shot using a Savage and Factory Ammo
Ron explained in our Shooter’s Forum that this group was actually shot using factory ammo… from Savage no less. “This will be one of the most difficult to believe for some, but it is my Savage12 FTR.308 with Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr. The stock has been modified to allow benchrest shooting. It now has a 3?-wide shoe on its forward stock. This rifle is not something I shoot often because most of my time is spent with my 30? Brux barreled 6BR shooting loads. The next day, I had the scope back on it, and was sighting it in 600 yards. Those were my last three shots after I corrected my scope. I was out ammo. This rifle has always been very precise. It was clear and there was no wind or mirage. “Similar Posts”:Tags 600 Yards, Cupid Heart, Snakepit and Splatter Target, Valentine’s Day
