February 17, 2023 Does your range or shooting club require money to improve its facilities? Do you want to train shooting coaches for club members? The MidwayUSA Foundation offers money through its Range Development and Coach Training grant programs. The MidwayUSA Foundation provided over $1 million in range-development grants in 2022. For both Range Development and Coach Training, applicants must apply through MidwayUSA Foundation’s online grant application process which opened for applications this month.Range Development grants allow existing shooting ranges to make improvements/expansions to to allow for more youth-oriented shooting activities. This grant cycle will run from February 1, 2023 through April 1, 2023. Cash grants will be given in June. Facilities must be requested from a MidwayUSA Foundation endowment holder. Range Development grants cannot exceed $75,000, or 50% of the project budget. Facilities must be used by a MidwayUSA Foundation endowment holder. Agency and team endowment holders are encouraged and encouraged to work together with their shooting range(s) in order to identify and complete grant application requirements. MidwayUSA Foundation’s Coach Training Grant Cycle opened February 1, 2023. It will continue through March 1, 2023. Grants will be awarded in May. The maximum grant payout is $5,000. The grant money can be used to provide coaches basic or advanced-level coaching certifications. This includes clinics and skills training. Individuals or teams interested in the Coach Training grant program need to reach out their state organization. They must have a MidwayUSA Foundation Agency or Donor Designated endowment. Without proper ranges, shooting sports would be impossible. For youth marksmanship training, qualified coaches are crucial. G. Scott Reynolds, Executive Director, explains that these programs provide the infrastructure to provide qualified coaches as well as regulation ranges. We want all youth who wish to be involved in youth shooting sports to have this opportunity.
