The Smith & Wesson M&P10mm M2.0 goes big

A powerful hand cannon is a must-have for anyone who loves it. The more powerful the “boom”, the bigger the smile. Many handheld boom sticks are heavy, cumbersome, and can feel very heavy. These boom sticks are not ideal for nature hikes. How will you respond if a large animal decides that you are its next meal? Smith & Wesson’s M&P 10mm M2.0 is Smith & Wesson’s latest offering to the M&P (Military & Police). The Smith & Wesson M&P10mm M2.0 is the best choice. A well-placed 10mm projectile traveling at approximately 1,300 feet per second is a force to reckon with. Smith & Wesson presented its newest additions to the M&P line during the annual Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous, Victor, Idaho. Two different versions of the M&P 10mm were introduced by Smith & Wesson. Both have a full-size frame with the largest difference being a 4-inch barrel or a 4.6-inch barrel. S&W also offers the option of an exterior safety on either model. Each variant of the M&P 10mm M2.0 will come with two 15-round magazines. Each slide comes with a cover plate and is precut for optics. It is better to see the hungry, angry bear. The M2.0 has a flat-face trigger that allows for consistent finger placement. The M2.0’s lower bore access also helps to improve your shooting experience by reducing muzzle rising. This will allow you to get back on target faster. Four interchangeable palm-swell grip inserts can be used to allow any hand to reach the trigger while still enjoying the 18-degree grip angle. The M&P M2.0’s grip texture is “enhanced,” which allows the shooter to feel a more comfortable grip. This is especially true when shooting with felt recoil. (Photo by Alex Landeen). It has a great balance between the soft rubbery finish and the aggressive textured finish. It’s not too heavy to slip in your hand and is still comfortable enough to carry concealed. Notice how the word “comfortable,” keeps coming up. S&W did an excellent job of controlling the 10mm monster and making their latest addition a fun, ergonomically-friendly pistol to shoot. Trigger Time at Rendezvous A range table stocked with all manner of S&W goodies was set up in the rolling hills of southeast Idaho at the annual editorial rendezvous. I didn’t spend a lot of time with this pistol. I did manage to get enough time to form a good opinion of the pistol. The recoil was manageable and I was able get back on target quickly. The addition of the Holosun red dots that S&W had placed on some of their M&P 10mm M2.0 models made shooting the M&P 10mm M2.0 so much more enjoyable. (Photo by Alex Landeen). It was a blast to bang at the steel dueling-tree target paddle targets. This pistol packs a lot of power. I had the opportunity to shoot both the M&P 10mm M2.0 with and without an externally mounted safety. It’s a great feature for new shooters and range guns. A striker-fired pistol does not have an external safety. It’s one more thing you can do while presenting your firearm. It’s a personal choice that each shooter should make. Practice, practice, practice with your firearm frequently. You might consider the Mantis Dry Fire Training System, or something similar, if you don’t have the budget for a lot of ammunition. You should practice dry-firing this gun if you intend to carry it. This applies to any EDC firearm. These drills should always be practiced as often as possible. You will soon feel comfortable with your firearm and develop muscle memory. It’s like an additional part of your body. The Mantis Dry Firing Training System, which doesn’t require live ammunition, is a great tool for helping you develop good shooting habits. Digging Deeper: The M&P’s patented sere deactivation and takedown lever allow you to disassemble the pistol without having to pull the trigger. This is a great feature that will appeal to most people and provide an external safety. (Photo by Alex Landeen). There are a few simple rules that you should follow when unloading a gun. To ensure that the weapon is loaded, first remove the magazine. Next, lock the slide and look into the chamber. To have someone verify the chamber, you can show it to a friend or neighbor who is familiar with firearms. There are many companies that make 10mm pistols right now. It almost seems to be a trend. It is important to reduce the felt recoil. Not all companies have succeeded in this. Smith & Wesson seems have it down to a science, with the M&P10mm M2.0. My dog and I spend a lot of time outside, split between the high plains or the mountains. I always have a.45 ACP and a 3-inch.357 mag. Because of the mountain lions and bears, as well as other creatures. I love my wheel gun but it limits the number of rounds I can carry. It’s not a great time trying to reload and negotiate with a pissed off mountain lion or bear. Ready for the Trail I shot the Smith & Wesson 10mm M2.0 and am now considering purchasing the 4-inch (non external safety) version to wear while hiking in the Pacific Northwest. This will give me 16 reasons why my furry friend (dog) and I won’t make a good meal. The Smith & Wesson M&P10mm M2.0 is a great option for anyone looking for a semi-auto 10mm pistol that shoots softly. (Photo by Alex Landeen). For more information, please visit Smith-Wesson.com.
