March 22nd, 2023 The 2023 F-Class World Championships in South Africa will begin soon. From March 26th to April 1st, the 2023 F-Class World Championships will be held at Blomfontein’s General Christiaan de Wet Shooting Range. Competitors from all over the world will be competing in the F-Class Target Rifle(F-TR), and F-Open divisions in an attempt to win the prestigious title F-Class World Champion. Team USA will compete in both divisions for a whole week. The team includes past American champions as well as Southwest Nationals winners. This major event has been awaited by the team for five years. The teams will make an impact under the leadership of Captains Dan Bramley & Phil Kelley. Three Team Berger members — Trudie Fay and James Crofts — will be serving as coaches for the US F-TR team. Erik Cortina, from Team Lapua, will compete as part of the F Open team. F-Class Target Rifle (F–TR) has strict requirements. A rifle must weigh no more than 18 pounds. The chambers must be unmodified and must use a standard.308 Win/7.62 NATO/.223 Rem/5.56 NATO cartridge. The U.S. FTR team uses Berger’s.30 Caliber 200.20X and 215 grain Hybrid Target bullets.
F-Open requires a rifle that weighs no more than 22 pounds and is chambered in any caliber.35 or less. Rifles can be fired from the shoulder in a prone position with an adjustable front rest, rear sandbag, and a front rest. The official bullet of the U.S. F.Class F-Open team is the 7mm 184 grain Hybrid Target bullet by Berger. The team also competes against Berger’s 7mm 180 Grain hybrid Target bullet.
