Swampfox Liberty and Justice Reflex Sights

The Swampfox Liberty and Justice red dot sights are two affordable and capable sights for pistols and carbines. This is a great selling point, especially with the recent craze of optics-ready handguns. Don’t misunderstand me, I own an RMR, and use it on one my EDCs. I love it. If you have several optics-ready guns, it can quickly become very expensive to outfit them all. It is not surprising that there’s a large market for red dots with lots of features and a solid warranty. And Liberty and Justice for All The Swampfox Justice is a 1.2×27 while the Liberty is a 1.2×22. Both optics are identical in every other way. Both models are good choices for the price. I tested them on different pistol and rifle configurations, and shot around 1,000 rounds of 9mm and 5.56 through each. As you can see below, the 1×22 Liberty is mounted on a Shadow Systems DR920P, and the 1×27 Justice is mounted on a Shadow Systems DR920L. I use both of these scopes almost exclusively for competition shooting. The larger 1×27 Justice window provides a wider field-of-view, and I prefer red dots to green dots because they are less likely to wash out in the bright Georgia sun where I do the majority of my shooting. Swampfox Liberty Features & Justice FeaturesAs i’ve already mentioned, the only difference between Swampfox Liberty is the size of its window. Both models are available with either red or green dots. These Swampfox red dots have the same Shake N’ Wake feature as Holosun’s red dots. I like this feature for non-carrying guns because I know that they will turn on when I remove them from the safe. The optics’ brightness can be adjusted manually with 10 illumination settings. The red dots are brighter at levels above 8, which is great for outdoor shooting, especially on sunny days. However, they will starburst indoors just like any other red dot. The box states that the optics will run for approximately 4,000 hours on a mid-range brightness level. Settings 1 and 2 support night vision. I prefer this size as larger dots can look like a dinnerplate superimposed on targets beyond 15 meters. They’re also IPX7 waterproof at 1 meter, and can handle 1,500g of shock. The company will replace any broken optics for free, even though the warranty is based on an honor system. The dots use a top-loading CR1632, and unlike RMR, you can change the battery without having to remove the optic. This feature is not available on Shadow Systems pistols. The mounting screws that come with these guns have heads that are a little too large and interfere with the battery covers. This could be fixed by using a different set, but you should be aware if you plan to mount one on a Shadow Systems handgun. The optics feature a 7075-aluminum housing, but Swampfox offers the Ironsides Shield for both models. These add a steel framed to the outside of the red dot as extra protection. The optic held its zero and remained functional despite being thrown around quite a bit during testing. The Ironsides Shield accessory. The Ironsides Shield accessory. On The RangeWhile I used the Swampfox Liberty and Justice only on pistols and an AR with a 45-degree off-set, you can use either model as a stand-alone optic for a shotgun or rifle. The dots were crisp and the optics were only 1 ounce in weight, which barely added a heft to the guns that they were mounted on. Both models had easy-to-track dots when firing. I also prefer their window shape to the Holosun 407/507c series. This made the transition from a magnified optical to a dot seamless. The Swampfox Liberty vs. Swampfox Justice. Loose roundsThey’re dots and they work. They work. I’ve taken them off my belt and table, and even chairs. They keep running and maintain zero. I’ve mounted these dots to pistols and rifles with no issues. I also appreciate Swampfox for their innovation in accessories like the Ironsides Shield. These dots also come with rubber coverings, which is something that cannot be said for Holosuns and Trijicons. I’ll continue to run the Liberty on one of my full-size competition guns, but the Justice, being slightly bigger, will likely soon find a home mounted to an offset on a PCC.All in all, if you’re considering buying a Holosun or Vortex red dot, Swampfox deserves to be on your shortlist as well. For more information, please visit swampfoxoptics.com.More On Pistol Red Dots:NEXT STEP: Download Your Free Storm Tactical Printable Target Pack62 Printable MOA Targets with DOT Drills – Rifle Range in YARDSThis impressive target pack from our friends at Storm Tactical contains62 printable targetsfor rifle and handgun range use.
