He then measures each piece with precision calipers (7:07-8:08). All lengths are within.0005 of a millimeter (half a thousandth). Erik notes that Giraud trimmers index off the case shoulder. You should be able to get consistent trim lengths as long as your brass is fire-formed and has consistent dimensions from base-to shoulder. (This does NOT work on straight-walled cartridges). The depth micrometer is built in and allows for quick, precise micro-adjustments. The ejection port for shavings is very handy. The system works very well, especially if you can stabilize the power drill in a single position. It comes with a handy case that holds both the trimmer and collets. Wilson Manual Case Trimmer Wilson, a manufacturer of hand dies and case trimmers, as well as other precision reloading tool, has videos that show the Wilson stainless steel case trimming with micrometer adjustment. The first video shows how to assemble the Wilson trimmer, attach the handle and set the cut-length.
