Michelle Lujan Grisham, Firearms Policy Coalition, and Zachary Fort are all joining SAF in a federal lawsuit against New Mexico Gov. Jordon George, of Aragon Moss George Jenkins LLP, is representing them. He has also filed a preliminary injunction and a motion for a restraining or temporary order. The lawsuit and motion was filed in the U.S. District Court of New Mexico. Along with Gov. Lujan Grisham is joined by Patrick Allen, Cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Department of Health, Jason Bowie Cabinet secretary for the New Mexico Department of Public Safety and W. Troy Weisler chief of the New Mexico State Police. They are sued both individually and in their official capacities. “Despite her claims of the contrary,” said SAF founder, and Exec. V.P. Alan M. Gottlieb, “Gov. Grisham is not authorized to’suspend the Second Amendment’ for an alleged emergency of public health or any other reason. The other defendants are not able to enforce a suspension of the Second Amendment. “”Evidently”, said SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut “Gov. Lujan Grisham thinks she can ignore the constitution in order to advance her political views. We are taking action to stop the unconstitutional exercise in power, as it is a flagrant breach of the rights of citizens to carry firearms for personal defense in public. “Our motion for a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining will prevent the state causing further injury to the plaintiffs under this unlawful order,” Kraut said.
