Have you ever shot a straight pull (aka toggle-link action rifle)? These action types were designed for Biathlon competitors, who needed to fire fast but could not use semi-autos. The toggle action is a biathlon-style action with a lever located on the side. Pull the lever with your index finger to open the bolt. Then, push the lever forward with your finger* to close the bolt. It’s quick and efficient. After some practice, the action can be cycled in just a few seconds — almost as fast as a Semi-Auto. The Volquartsen Summit.22 LR is based on a design originally developed by Primary Weapons Systems. This unique rifle is designed for both small game hunting and competition shooting. It features a straight pull, toggle-style action, with a Ruger 10-/22 profile. This means you can use 10/22 magazines and swap into stocks designed for the 10/22. You can even use aftermarket 10/22 barrels. The CNC-machined receiver has an integral Picatinny Rail with 20 MOA. Magpul’s stock can be adjusted for length of pull. The weight is 5.8 pounds so it is easy to carry. The Summit is equipped with a lightweight, carbon fiber-wrapped barrel that is threaded 1/2×28 on the muzzle for suppressor compatibility. The trigger is one of our favorites on this little rifle. It has a light and crisp 1.75-lb weight. Dustin Ellermann’s Good Field Test of Summit Straight Pull RifleDustin Ellerman, a former Top Shot Champion, demonstrates the Summit’s impressive precision by hitting small candies from 50 yards (06 :13 start/06 :55 impact). Dustin demonstrates the speed and ease with which the Summit can be cycled in rapid-fire drills. Summits are now available in.17 HMR,.22 WMR and.17 HMR.

The whole process is completed in a fraction of a second, faster than you can say “snick snick”. You need a stock that has a vertical grip to use the thumb effectively. The Magpul stock for the Summit places your thumb too far back, making it difficult to close the lever comfortably without moving your hand.
