Are you looking for a PRS/NRL rig that is match-worthy for less than $1750.00? Savage’s Elite Precision Model 110 is now available. GunsAmerica Digest recently conducted a thorough test of the 110 Elite Precision and declared that the modern Savage was “Competition-Ready Out Of the Box.” The Savage’s $1750 cost is well below the PRS $2500 Production Division limit. *
Is this a great deal for $1750? Yes. You should also consider the Proof Research MDT Chassis Rifle. It shares the same MDT ACC Chassis and has a $5699.00 MSRP! You could purchase THREE Savage Elite Precisions for that amount of hard-earned money ($1750 x 3, = $5250) Spend the $3949 you save on optics and reloading gear, or make a few mortgage payments.
The Savage 110 Elite Precision is distinguished by many features:
1. Modular Driven Technologies (MDT), Adjustable Core Competition (ACC), Chassis2. Trigger adjusts between 1.5-4.0 pounds
3. Factory-installed timed muzzle brake on barrel
4. MDT ACC Chassis accepts weights and accessories
5. Takes AICS-compatible Magazines
6. 6.
This rifle features a superb MDT ACC modular chassis. GunsAmerica stated that the rifle comes with everything you need for PRS/NRL matches. Stock features ARCA rails at the fore-end, as well as M-LOK mounting points to attach weights and accessories. To increase stability and reduce recoil, you can add 9 pounds more steel.
The Cheekpiece, Buttpad, and Length of Pull (LOP) are adjustable.
Another reviewer pointed out that the 110 Elite Precision comes with important accurizing tweaks: “Key upgrades include blueprinted action… Savage squared receiver face and cleaned up receiver threads to make sure they’re concentric in the barrel’s bore. This combination helps eliminate flyers that can ruin a group or cause a mismatch. Source: GunsandAmmo.com
Accuracy with Factory Ammo
What accuracy can you expect from your gun? Decent for factory barrels and factory ammunition. The test rifle was loaded with Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition and shot off a sled. It produced 1.1-MOA average groups. A proper front rest fitted with a bag-rider to the fore-end would give us a much better reading. The gun would also shoot much better with handloads using Lapua brass or Berger bullets. The Elite Precision was easy to handle. The rifle’s 12.6-pound weight produces very little recoil when using the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge…. The ACC chassis can be weighed to further reduce recoil. NOTE: Other Savage 110 Elite Precision owners have reported significantly better accuracy. The barrel’s accuracy is not guaranteed, as it is with all factory rifles made by large-maker manufacturers. You will need to spend more if you want a guarantee of half-MOA (see footnote).
The 110 Elite Precision has been well received by actual owners. One buyer commented: “You couldn’t build a complete PRS rifle for this low a price!” GunsAmerica’s Jordan Michaels, a GunsAmerica test subject, agreed that this rifle is a great choice in PRS/NRL factory class: “If your goal is to compete in long-range competitions, the Savage 110 Elite Precision would be a great choice.”
* The PRS “Production Class” price limit has been increased to $2500.00, as per the 2021 PRS Rulebook. (Rule 2.3.1). Production Class rifles must have the manufacturer’s stamp on their barrels. This is to ensure that you don’t slip a Krieger, Bartlein, or other unauthorized parts on the Savage. (Rule 2.3.11). The MasterPiece Arms MPA Ba PMR Pro Rifle II (Product Match Rifle), is another option under $2500. This rifle is approved for use in the PRS Production Division. The MPA is priced below the $2,500 price limit for this class and includes many competition-related features. It is available in either a Black (R) or Tungsten Cerakote (R) finish. It is equipped with a MPA/Curtis Short Action and Lothar Walther hand-lapped bar. MORE INFORMATION.
