CMP to Offer Surplus Ammo At Matches Nationwide

CMP Purchases surplus ammunition with upcoming sales at MatchesThe Civilian Marksmanship Program has announced the purchase of large quantities of surplus ammunition, including M2 Ball (.30-6 Springfield),.30 Carbine (.30-06 Springfield), and.22 Pistol (.22 Long Rifle). CMP customers will be able to purchase this surplus ammunition, and CMP shooters will also be able to purchase it at matches. CMP personnel are assessing and cataloging the recently acquired surplus ammunition supplies. The CMP plans to maintain a surplus ammunition inventory large enough to support CMP Matches over the next few years, and to offer discounted surplus ammo for competitors attending CMP events. All sales will be subject to limits in order to comply with the guidelines set forth in the Memorandum of Agreement signed between the Department of the Army, and the CMP. CMP eStore also offers some types of rimfire or centerfire ammunition. The CMP will make the surplus ammunition available to its loyal constituents in the spring after it has been processed by the CMP. Mark Johnson, CMP Chief Operating Officer and Director Civilian Marksmanship, said. “Purchase restrictions and limits will be implemented to ensure the mission of CMP’s is well served.”

NOTE: This video is of an M1 Garand firing modern CMP M2 ball ammo, NOT older surplus. The surplus M2 Ball ammunition obtained by the CMP may be older, but it should have similar speeds with 150gr Bullets. In the near future, we will have more information on surplus sales. CMP E-Store is currently offering commercial ammunition sales to qualified individuals. Register for an account or browse the CMP E-Store at https://shop.thecmp.org/browse/Ammo.
