Can You Hit an egg at 600 Yards? Check out this Challenge…

Can you hit an eel at 600+ yards? We’re talking about hitting it reliably, not just by chance. You’ll need to have good shooting skills, and a rifle that is very accurate. How accurate is it? A chicken egg measures, on average, 1 3/4 inches (44.5 cm) in diameter and 2 1/4 inches (57mm) in length. To hit an egg at 600 yards with a rifle that is capable of a 1/3-MOA accuracy, or better, will be required. DukeDuke, a forum member, has a gun that can do this. He demonstrated it in a short video. DukeDuke’s gun is chambered for 6BRX (30deg 6BR improved) and loaded with DTAC bullets 115gr pushed by Alliant Reloder 17 The eggs are placed 616 yards away from the firing line. Watch Egg Hit at 38-second mark…As you can see from the video, DukeDuke scrambled these eggs at 616 yards. The range is located just outside of Lake Jackson in Texas. The gun is a Rem 700 BDL SA action, blueprinted in a Rem/HS Precision stock. The 31′” barrel is a 1:8′ twist Broughton. Porter’s Precision Products in Lake Jackson, TX, is the company that signs the barrel “P3″. Kenneth Porter built the rifle. The load was 33.5 grain of RL-17, at 2950 fps with 115gr DTAC Bullets touching the lands. Cartridge OAL is 2,400”. Bob Crone developed the 6mm BRX. The BRX retains the 30deg shoulder from the parent 6mmBR, but has a slightly smaller capacity than a Dasher. Bob told us his original design of the 6mm BRX had a.100″ longer head space than a Norma 6mmBR and that he did not deviate from it. Bill Shehane created a 6mm BRX with a.120″ longer head space after Bob designed the first 6mm BRX. This led to confusion. The original 6mm BRX was (and is) a chambering that has a headspace.100’’ longer than a standard 6mm BR Norma. Reamer Print provided AR-X Enterprises LLC www.6mmAR.com.
