Springfield Armory announced today that the Emissary, its newest 1911 was now available. The Emissary is a defensive handgun designed to be used in a solitary capacity. It also features great styling for 1911 enthusiasts.

“This new addition to the 1911 family provides an excellent option as a defensive handgun with an added measure of refinement,” states Steve Kramer, Vice President Marketing at Springfield Armory. “The classic pistol platform’s modern features make it a must-have item for 1911 enthusiasts and anyone looking for a high-end defensive pistol.
The Emissary blends form and function at first glance. The pistol is loaded with custom-grade features. It features a forged stainless-steel frame and a forged carbon steel slide. It stands out with its eye-catching two-tone finish. The slide is made of blued carbon steel and has a stainless steel frame. It has a squared trigger guard that gives you more room to operate with a gloved hand.
The Emissary’s slide’s “Tri-Top” cut gives it a unique style. Flattened top straps are finished with 40 LPI serrations that diffuse light and reduce glare. A tritium- and luminescent front sight keeps you on target. It can be used in conjunction with a Tactical Rack U-Dot to provide a quick sight picture in any lighting condition, according Springfield.
A bushingless, heavy stainless steel bull barrel provides maximum accuracy. It reduces muzzle flip and felt recoil. The Emissary’s skeletonized Hammer delivers lightning fast lock times. Springfield claims that it works well with a flat-faced trigger with a solid-body for maximum performance.
For grip, the forged stainless frame’s mainspring housing and front strap are wrapped in a grenade patter texture. It can be used with VZ Grips’ slimline grip panels, made from G10. A Picatinny accessory rack integrated into the frame can be used to accept a light or laser.
