Breaking News from Camp Atterbury in Indiana
The final match results have been tallied. There are now two new NRA Long Range F-Class National Champion: Ian Klemm (F-TR) and Tod Hendricks (F-Open). Both men deserve congratulations for their outstanding performances. Ian, a multi-time Champion has really dominated F-TR in recent years. This is his fourth F-TR National Championship. He has previously won the title in 2020, 2018 and 2017. This is dominance! Tod has been a strong competitor since the beginning, winning numerous F-Open team (Grand Agg), individual (Mid Range) wins at Berger SW Nationals.
Forum member Keith Glasscock finished second in F-Open. He is also the host of the popular Winning in the Wind YouTube Channel. Matt Schwartzkopf was second in F-TR. He is a great guy and also supervises the Berger SW Nationals at Ben Avery. Matt is a double amputee below his knee, but that has not stopped him from competing.
Tod Hendricks, F-Open Winner
Tod said to us: “The heat was very difficult, but everyone had their own way of dealing with it.” I struggled a lot on the first two relays of Day One. In fact, I actually scored an 8 because of a mental error on relay one. I dropped 6 points on both those relays, which were cleanable. It was a great mental tool to be able to focus and drop only 3 points in the six last relays. I have been close to winning some big matches. Although I didn’t feel like I choked at end, it was something that made me question my abilities. This win was a huge relief.
I would like to thank my sponsors Lapua and Brux barrels, Borden Accuracy and Kahles as well as my team-mates on Team LBB — they were pulling in my direction and I felt it. Shout out to X-Ring Rifle Stocks — Jason, the owner, and I created a new F-Open Stock a few years ago. He’s a smart, hardworking guy who was open to trying out some new ideas.

Keith, who was second in F-Open, shared these insights about the F-Class LR Nationals. “Keeping yourself healthy in the heat is the key to success in Atterbury.” It’s difficult to make informed decisions when you are overheated or dehydrated. Winds were only marginally visible, but changes weren’t sharp in nature. The odds of getting target service in less that 7 seconds were better than ever because there were so many great competitors. These events are a way for me to spend time with my F Class family doing what I love.
