In 2014, Forum member Robert Chombart sent this message from his home, in Normandy, France. “On the occasion [of the] 70th anniversary of D-Day I… saluted the memory of thousands of American soldiers, who sacrificed their young lives to liberate France. With… particular respect for those who are buried in Normandy grounds.” Today, eighty years after the historic invasion day, we must never forget those who gave their life on the beaches in Normandy. Today, we should remember the soldiers who crossed the Channel in order to liberate Europe. On June 6, 1944, thousands of soldiers, sailors and aviators lost their lives. Their sacrifices on “The Longest Day” allowed people in Europe to enjoy freedom. We should never forget those brave warriors and that freedom does not come free.
