Finale of the Precision Rifle Series Rimfire on Shooting USAThis week Shooting USA presents the PRS Rimfire Finale. This rimfire discipline is similar to Precision Rifle Series centerfire competition but is shot with.22 LR rimfire weapons. Shooters do not need to purchase expensive centerfire ammunition or a 1,000-yard range in order to compete. The 2023 PRS Rimfire Finale was held in Pennsylvania, sponsored by Ruger in October 2023. Over 200 competitors took part in the big event. SEE: PRS Rimfire Series Info. PRS Rimfire Series — Over 200 Competitors In 2023, the PRS Rimfire Series final attracted over 200 competitors. The Finale Match took place in Kennerdell Pennsylvania last October, hosted by MKM Precision. PRS and NRL are two of the fastest-growing shooting disciplines. Rimfire tactical disciplines have grown even more than centerfire PRS/NRL because.22LR ammo costs less and there are more ranges that can host rimfire matches. PRS Rimfire provides the same level of fun, but without the high costs of centerfire ammunition and the time-consuming task of hand-loading. Rimfire PRS rifles are generally less expensive and have less recoil. The match directors at the PRS Rimfire Finale, held in Pennsylvania, set up many unique firing courses and the placement of targets was certainly challenging. Many of the stages featured cross-course target layouts. This makes wind reading more difficult, especially when using the low-BC.22 LR cartridges that are used in PRS rimfire competition. Watch the PRS Rimfire final on Shooting USA TV, Wednesday, June 19, 24. You’ll love the coverage of the popular PRS Rimfire sport. We expect it to grow significantly by 2024 and beyond. The National Rifle League (NRL), for example, now holds many more NRL22 events than NRL centerfire. The fun and challenge of a tactical match at a lower cost is a big draw for competitors. Ammo costs are $0.10-$0.25/rd, compared to $1.20/rd (including brass, primers, bullets, powder and barrel wear). There are also many more venues available, since you don’t have to use a large range to host a rimfire match. Want to get started in PRS Rimfire Competition? This MDT video explains what you’ll need to build a top-level.22 LR rig.
