Recently, I came across an AR pistol manufactured in Rock River Arms (RRA). RRA was founded in 1996. They have contracts with many federal agencies, including the DEA, FBI, and U.S. They have contracts with several federal agencies, including the DEA, FBI and U.S. Marshals. The big takeaway from all of this is the famous cliche: “Big things come in small packages.”

EXCLUSIVE – Is the ATF Really Coming After The AR Pistol Brace?

The Rock River Arms RUK-15 AR Pistol

Let me introduce the Rock River Arms RUK-15 AR pistol, 4.5 inches in length, chambered in 5.56 NATO. This thing was my first love. It all started when I held it in my hands. The Hogue rubber pistol grip is unlike any other grip I have used on an AR platform. It is extremely comfortable thanks to its rubber and ergonomics.

It has a lightweight aluminum, free-floating handguard that measures 4.25 inches. There is also a hand stop at its business end to prevent you ripping off a finger. Although it may seem like it might restrict your off-hand position it is just as comfortable at the magazine well as at the hand stop.

The sights that come with this gun may need some improvements. The gun comes with RRA NSP flip up front and rear sights. However, you will need to use your entire hand to pull them up. I recommend a set Magpul MBUS flip up sights or something similar. This way, you just need to hit the button and it will take care of itself.

RRA has since changed the magazine to a polymer one. The barrel measures a solid 4.5 inches and has a chrome-lined chamber with a full auto chamber. It has a twist rate of 1-in-9 inches.

RRA’s LAR-15M lower receiver is used. The gun features an A4 upper with forward assistance. Both are forged, so they fit together well without any sloppiness. Standard equipment includes the SB Tactical SBA3 arm brace.

It was at this range that I fell in love with the RUK-15. It shot flawlessly after I put 600 rounds of Fiocchi.223 Re 55-grain FMJ BT PMC Bronze.223 Re 55-grainFMJ-BT Federal American Eagle 5.56mm 55 -grainFMJ downrange. Even though this was a small sample, I felt I could have put thousands more rounds downrange and had similar results. A friend of mine had just shot 500 rounds downrange with the same gun the week before. To make sure that they worked, we tried several magazines. We used a Magpul PMag, a stock metal magazine, and a Polymer Magazine made by Thermold Magazines.

The Rock River Arms RUK-15 AR pistol was used by the author for range time. This is not true. It was easier to return to target due to the light recoil. I loved the tingling, tingling, ting sound at the range. The fireball was almost non-existent.

Protective Roles

This gun is great for personal defense, at home or in a car. Most people think of a traditional gun or a 12-gauge shotgun when they hear “home-defense guns”. The RUK-15 is a great home defense gun. Its small size makes it easy to place anywhere.

Let’s say you want to store it in your safe, and your bedroom is your safe place. It is small enough that it can be stored in a drawer of a dresser. You could also use Runner Mounts’ mounting device that locks into the magazine and can be hidden behind clothes in your closet. You can then simply hit the mag release button, load the magazine, and defend your castle.

The RUK-15 performed flawlessly when tested with a variety 30 round magazines. The RUK-15 is a great home defense gun. The ability to use 5.56mm ammunition in a pistol-sized firearm gives you more power than a traditional pistol and less recoil than a 12-gauge shotgun. I am very picky about the firearm’s balance. It’s like buying new silverware. I want the pieces to feel balanced in my hands. This, along the light recoil, helps you to re-acquire your target faster.

The RUK-15’s 4.5-inch barrel makes it easier to get around tight corners. You can shoot the pistol one-handed because of its light recoil. The pistol also comes standard with an SBA3 brace. This brace allows for greater stability while firing with one hand and fighting off attackers with your other.

Transport and storage

Some people only carry their guns out and about. Others keep vehicle guns behind their front seats in a tactical seatback pouch. The RUK-15 could be mounted in a car’s trunk, on the sidewall or back of the seat or in the spare tire well. Gun safes and racks can also be mounted under the seats.

The gun can also be carried in a backpack (rucksack), which can be placed on the seat. This is why RRA called the pistol the RUK-15. Why would I want to have a gun like that in my car? With the current events in the world, you never know what someone is paying attention to. You never know when an angry mob will try to stop you from moving your car.

The RUK-15 can be used in an emergency situation where someone attempts to break into your vehicle. This can be pulled from behind your seat and used to aim without hitting your window with it. I have had relationships with many ARs, including Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, and Colt. The RRA RUK-15 is a great AR to start a new relationship with now that I’m out.
