White House to Drop David Chipman’s Nomination To Lead The ATF

Although it may seem that David Chipman, a fervent anti-gunner, was disqualified from ATF head nomination, leaked information from the Biden administration revealed that the White House intends to withdraw Chipman’s nomination as bureau director. Chipman’s aggressive and blatant anti-gun rhetoric and his work as a lobbyist for gun control groups should have been enough to disqualify himself from the post from the beginning. His nomination was scuppered by accusations of racist remarks from the past. Whatever the reason Chipman’s death, it is clear that the Biden administration continues to pursue its gun-control agenda. Without Chipman as a clear boogeyman, it becomes difficult to fight future attacks on the constitution. It’s likely that there would have been far fewer comments on the proposed ATF rule changes regarding braced pistols and home-built firearms without Chipman’s cartoonish media presence. His donkey-like appearance was a perfect talisman to draw pro-2A support across the country. While I am happy to see him go I worry that it will inspire even more sneakier tactics in future. President Biden already sanctioned Russian ammunition imports as part of backdoor gun control, and there is nothing stopping him from continuing this trend. Imported arms and ammunition are a key backbone of the American gun industry. Future sanctions on other ammo-producing countries are not out of the question. The current administration seems to be less positive about the governments of Turkey and Hungary. All three countries are also major arms and ammunition exporters. Chipman is no longer available to perform the White House’s dirty job. It may be that more executive branch sanctions are necessary to achieve their constitutional goals. Chipman’s denial of a job will not stop gun control efforts anytime soon. There is a good chance that the next nominee to the ATF director post will be just as anti-gun as Chipman but without the baggage. The nominee will likely be confirmed if he or she has not made racist comments in the past. The ATF is still a headless snake but it can still bite gun owners.
