We have put thousands of rounds through S&W Model 617 revolvers, with 4? und 6? barrels. These handguns in stainless.22 LR are extremely reliable, accurate, and hold their value. Smith & Wesson rimfire revolvers are generally less fussy about ammo and more reliable than semi-auto rimfires. We believe that everyone should own an S&W rimfire gun.
S&W now offers a very impressive Rimfire Revolver option, the “revived Model 648 in.22 LR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire). The stainless Model 648 is a powerful cartridge for S&W rimfire revolver enthusiasts.
The 8-round Model 648, which is built on S&W’s medium K-frame, is made for small game hunting or target shooting. The.22 WMR is a more potent varmint gun than the.22 LR. The.22 WMR has more downrange energy and a flatter trajectory. Although the 648 isn’t equipped with an integrated scope rail, it’s easy to mount red dots or optical sights to this wheelgun.
The Model 648 revolver was built on a stainless-steel medium K-frame. It also includes black synthetic finger groove grips and a black patridge front sight. This stunning revolver has a six-inch barrel with full underlug and eight-round capacity. It is available at a MSRP of $749.
Model 648 History and Features
Guns.com reports that the K-frame.22 WMR caliber Model 648 was first introduced in Big Blue’s lineup back in 1989. It features a full-lug barrel with stainless steel construction. The Model’s latest generation, although retired since 2005, still features a 6-inch barrel. This translates into a commanding 11.1 inch overall length. The eight-shot.22 Mag weighs 46.2 ounces, making it attractive for those who want to smoke and fill pots. Below is a vintage Model 648.
