September 24, 2021 Tomorrow, September 25th, 2021, will be National Hunting and Fishing Day. Hunting season is upon us, and many of our readers will soon be heading to the woods in search of deer, elk or other game. It is important to rest your rifle whenever possible in order to make a good shot. Forum member Thomas Haugland from Norway shows how to stabilize a rifle in the field. Thomas focuses on practical field shooting techniques for hunters. Thomas (aka “Roe” on Forum and Sierra645 YouTube) shows how he verifies his zeros using a bipod, and then he demonstrates how to improvise field rests from prone, kneeling and sitting positions. Thomas explains that this video focuses on basic marksmanship and getting ready for the year’s hunt. I checked everything one last time before I went hunting. My trajectory is checked again and the accuracy of the rifle is confirmed. I practice making the most of any opportunity to get some rest. After being hit in the face with a.338 Lapua Magnum rifle at a previous filming session I had to get back to basics and stop [flinching]. I have included some details from bipod shooting that I hope hunters will find helpful. We wish you all the best for this year’s season. How to Stalk Game — Tips From Thomas
Thomas has another valuable video if you enjoyed the first one. Thomas explains how to approach deer successfully in this “How to Approach Deer” video. This video is a must-see if you’re heading into deer country this autumn. Similar Posts: Tags: hunting, Marksmanship, Norway, Thomas Haugland, Video
