NOTE: The official SAAMI specification for the Creedmoor 6mm now exists. It is not just a wildcat. Sierra Bullets has released load data for the 6mm Creedmoor cartridge. This cartridge is a necked version of the 6.5 Creedmoor. Sierra Bullets has published loads data for the 6mm Creedmoor cartridge, which covers fifteen (15) bullets ranging in weight from 55 to 110 grains. NOTE: Sierra’s 6mm Creedmoor load test results used Hornady-brand brass, not the superior Lapua 6mm Creedmoor brass, which has small primer pockets. Hand-loaders who use the stronger Lapua 6mm Creedmoor brass might need to adjust their loads. Sierra writes: “A 6mm version of the 6.5 Creedmoor was already in development. The 6mm Creedmoor proved its worth at 1000 yards and began to attract the attention of Precision Rifle Series competitors. The 6mm Creedmoor cartridge is an excellent choice for AR platform-friendly shooters. It has a velocity that is very similar to the AR243 Win, but it fits the AR10 magazine length. This case is very efficient and has a 30-degree shoulder which helps to prolong the case’s life. For heavier long-range bullets, the 6mm Creedmoor powders are compatible with powders like H4350, [RE-16], RE-17 and Ramshot Hunter. Powders that are slightly faster, such as Win 760, VihtavuoriN540, and RE-15, work well with lighter bullet weights. Sierra Bullets tested for 6mm Creedmoor LoadData 55gr BlitzKing #1502

Sierra tested a variety of medium-burning powders, including Reloder 16, Reloder 17, Varget and Superformance, for the heavier bullets 100+ grains. Sierra did an excellent job. This information will be appreciated by 6mm Creedmoor shooters. Not sure which powder to try? Our Forum members recommend Alliant Reloder 16 for 107-110 grain bullets. If you want to achieve maximum accuracy and low ES/SD, we recommend Hodgdon H4350. Hodgdon Superformance or Reloder 19 will give you maximum velocity with the 110-grainer. Here are Sierra’s 6mm Creedmoor Load data Charts for 90-95 grain bullets, plus the 107gr and 110gr MSK. There are five tables that can be used for other types of bullets.
