December 15, 2021 Katrina Demerle (17 years old) from Hamilton, Ohio is a legend at the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), Gary Anderson Invitational. Katrina has won four consecutive overall titles in the junior air rifle event in 2018, 2020, and 2021. Katrina has now won four consecutive titles in the junior air rifle event. She could win five more in 2022. “I will return to try to win again next years!” The 2021 match was attended by more than 340 athletes. It is held every year at the 80-point electronic gun ranges at CMP Competition Centers in Camp Perry, Ohio, and Anniston (Alabama). This match is a 3-position (3P) match, with shooters firing from standing, prone, and kneeling positions. You can also kneel or prone. Demerle shot a national Precision Individual 3×20 and Final record score of 701.4 with her Pardini GPR1. Katrina was the top performer in the precision category, shooting 700.6 with the same Pardini air rifle she named “Giorgio”. “This year, there was some pressure because I wanted to win another consecutive match and also beat my national record from last years. The talented young athlete has competed in almost 400 matches since 2014. She is a member the USA Shooting National Junior Team, which includes international and three-position air rifle. Before the GAI, she had already had a memorable year. She was second at the Junior Olympic 3P National Championships as well as the overall top score at CMP 3P National Championships. She also won the overall Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru. She also won the Junior Air Rifle National Championship for international air rifle.
