We have had the opportunity to test a new First Focal Plane riflescope by ZEISS over the past few weeks. Jim See, Elite Accuracy LLC, was given the ZEISS LRP 525-56 optic in Milrad version. He took a quick look at the scope. Jim was immediately impressed with the bright, clear markings and the positive clicks. The zoom control with lever, positive zero-stop on elevation knob and the lockable windage turbine were all very appealing to Jim. Jim quickly installed the LRP S5 55-56 on his 6mmBR PRS/NRL rifle. It features a red J. Allen Chassis with Impact Precision action. Jim mounted the scope in Zeiss rings made of high-quality materials with an integral bubble level. The scope was then taken out to the field for an initial Tall Target test. This test confirmed the repeatability and precision of the 0.1 MRAD elevation click values. Jim was also impressed by the positive clicks with both elevation knobs and windage knobs. Jim shared his thoughts with us: “The scope works well, it tracks well and the turrets move accurately. All functions work well, including elevation, windage and parallax. This LRP scope feels high quality, similar to other ZEISS products that I have used. Jim also mentioned that the ZEISS S5 scope resisted solar radiation very well. “This is crucial in PRS matches where there is low sun in the afternoons.” Jim was very pleased with the visible numbers on the dials.

Stay tuned for the full field test of ZEISS LRP 525-56 Optic Jim See has been testing the new 5-25X ZEISS scope out in the field with the optic fitted to his PRS/NRL competition rig over the past few weeks. The optic has performed well in cold weather with positive adjustments and excellent results when testing against tall targets. Jim is currently conducting field tests with targets ranging from 100 yards up to 1200 yards.
Jim is testing the Zeiss LRP’s weatherproofing and ruggedness in harsh winter conditions. To keep the snow off his tripod, he is using it here. Smooth traversing allows for easy viewing of many objects and terrains. Advanced Optical Technology — ZEISS S5 56 Features The ZEISS S5 525-556 features a lockable windage turret and adjustable reticle illumination. It also has a huge amount of elevation travel (40.7 Mils in MIL and 140 MOA for the MOA versions). This optic can shoot at extreme ranges without needing holdovers.
