12 Democrat Cities Break Homicide Records – Prove Gun Control Fallacy

Gun rights advocates have been trying to raise awareness for years about the real problem with gun control. The message is clear: criminals will have guns if they take guns away from law-abiding citizens. The message that criminals don’t follow the law is not always heard. American citizens are now suffering as 12 Democrat-run American cities break their previous homicide records for 2021.

12 Democrat Run Cities Break Homicide Records

It almost seems as if Democrats are trying make the pro-gun case to us. Every day, we hear of another homicide and then a call for tighter gun control. We see more homicides the more they lock it down. Some people don’t see the correlation. To make matters worse, they gaslight us more and more each time it gets worse. As seen in this tweet by Jen Psaki, White House Press Secretary:

@POTUS took in 2021 more executive actions to end gun violence than any President ever took in their first year. Yesterday, the Administration built upon this with two important steps to keep guns safely secure and help gun dealers follow the law:https://t.co/CC1Hkn8nbs– Jen Psaki (@PressSec) January 4, 2022Psaki tweeted this, just days into 2022, following a record-breaking year of homicides. These records were broken by only Democrat-run states with strict gun control laws.

According to an ABC News report:

Albuquerque, New MexicoAustin, TexasBaton Rouge, LouisianaColumbus, OhioIndianapolis, IndianaLouisville, KentuckyPhiladelphia, PennsylvaniaPortland, OregonRochester, New YorkSt. Paul, MinnesotaToledo. OhioTucson. ArizonaAccording to the report five of these cities broke records last year, in 2020. These cities include Baton Rouge, Louisville, Toledo and Columbus. This is not surprising considering the solidarity and support Democrats gave to looters and rioters in 2020. One year later, we can see the results of that support.

Capt. Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department stated, “The community must get fed up. We are extremely frustrated. This must stop. It’s worse than a war zone here lately, I think.”

Jim Kenney, Philadelphia Mayor, said that it was equally terrible to wake up every morning and look at the numbers, then go to the news to see the stories. It’s crazy. It’s crazy, and it must stop.

Make it make sense

Despite Democrats claiming strong anti-gun sentiment, their actions often prove the contrary. According to FBI crime data, there was a 24% drop in national arrests in 2020. A gunman aged 18 shot three people at his High School in October and was later released.

Robert Boyce, the retired Chief of Detectives at the New York Police Department, stated to ABC News that “Nobody is getting arrested anymore.” People are being arrested for gun possession, but they’re released over and over.

Criminals are no longer afraid of gun-control measures or law enforcement.

Many people try to blame the drop in arrests on decreased police presence due to COVID or the economic crisis. If this were true, Republican-run municipalities would also be facing the same problems. This is especially true when you consider that Republican cities have less strict gun control measures and thus, more guns per capita. They are not seeing the same rise in homicides.

The 2020 and 2021 pushes to defund police in many Democrat-controlled cities is more likely to be the cause. Many officers quit feeling that their Mayor and department didn’t care about them. Many departments cut funding to placate the defunders of the police force. These two factors have resulted in a significant decrease in law enforcement on ground.

Interview with ABC News: Chief LeRonne Armstrong, Oakland, California Police Department, stated that “To have 70, almost 70 less officers a Year later is definitely going to impact our ability to address the public safety.”

Honorable Mention

You may be wondering, “Where is Chicago on this List?”. Chicago is still a shining example of failed gun control policy. It has 797 homicides by 2021. However, it has not reached the 974 homicides of 1970, which was its deadliest year. It is still on the rise, increasing by 3% over 2020. It will continue to rise unless they are able to come to their senses.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times report, “The death toll in the county is significantly higher than that of the 797 homicides reported in Chicago Police Department,” which does not include killings in self-defense or expressway shootings. The department’s death toll is still the highest in 25-years.

Despite a decline in homicides in the city’s early 2000s, the murder rate rose by 55% between 2019 and 2020.

Angela Hernandez-Sutton (44), said that she hears gunshots every single day in an interview with Chicago Sun-Times. I listen to where they are coming from and then move to either the front or back of the house. It’s different now than it was. It used to take a few weeks, sometimes months, before you heard anything. But not anymore.

According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report, which was released in September, there was a 30% increase of murders in 2020. This is the biggest single-year increase since the FBI began capturing crime statistics 60 years ago.

The increase in crime will continue if our elected representatives refuse to examine actual data and causality. We may see civility returning if they are able to accept the truth and not try to make the results fit their narrative. One can only hope.
