January 12, 2022Powder Burn rate Comparison Table — Download HEREHello guys, you will probably want to download the Powder Burn Rate Chart issued Hodgdon/IMR. This table shows the most recent IMR powders, including the Enduron series (IMR 4451, 4955 and 7977), as shown in green below. The chart does not include Hodgdon or IMR propellants. This table also includes powders from Accurate and Alliant, Norma (Western), Vihtavuori and Winchester. The chart lists 163 powders. This chart is useful information for hand-loaders. It is best to use propellants with the same relative burn rate when load development is being done. This chart does not contain “Nov. 2019” This chart is the most recent available from Hodgdon/IMR. It is the current chart linked to the Hodgdon.com reference data center. DOWNLOAD the Chart HERE.
NEW POWDER BURN RATE TABLE – IMRPowder.com. LoadData.com Burn Rate Chart with 197 Powders
LoadData.com has its own burn rate chart. It is more detailed than the official Hodgdon/IMR charts. We recommend that you start with the Hodgdon/IMR lists. However, if you are unable to find a powder on the Hodgdon/IMR charts above, then consult LoadData.com, which lists 197 powders. Also, we recommend that you start cautiously with any powder. We suggest starting at the lowest end of official load recommendations. Even within the same burn range, a ball powder may behave differently to an extruded powder. Some powders are more sensitive to temperature than others. Among all the powders available, the Alliant TS (temp stabilized) series and the popular Hodgdon powders such as H4350 made by ADI Australia are the best. EdLongrange contributed the story.
