SHOT Show is the largest trade show of the year for ALL industries. There are thousands of exhibitors in two halls that have a combined area of 14 football fields. YouTubers have been hard at work finding new products in the many aisles. Today, we present some highlights from SHOT Show 2022. Backfire, a popular YouTube channel devoted to guns with 358K subscribers, is the first video in our showcase. This video features many new rifles, pistols and shotguns as well as optics. The new X-Bolt Target Max rifles by Browning were outstanding. The new X-Bolt Target Max rifles have thicker and more rigid actions. A new DLX (double lever trigger) is also available that adjusts down to 2 pounds. See discussion at 1:34. Backfire (a popular YouTube Channel that has 357K subscribers) has done an extensive, 16-minute rundown of many interesting products at SHOT Show, including chassis systems, new cartridges and optics as well as 17 new-for-2022 rifles. The host also stated that “the coolest thing” he’d seen was not a rifle, but a new cartridge ([8.6 Blackout]). The 8.6 Blackout is a 6.5 Creedmoor case that has been shortened and blown out to make a.338 bullet. Supersonic: between 150 and 160 grains We can get close to 2400 FPS from a 12″ barrel. We will be able to subsonic up until about 360 grains. A Barnes 210-grain bullet [is] approximately 2,000 feet per second from a 12′” barrel.”- Q’s Kevin Brittingham. It is claimed that there is more energy than with a.308 win, even with a very short barrel. Cartridge inventors have a very radical 1 to 3 twist rate. Yes, that’s right — one in three. Kevin B. says, “Fast twist… gives you many things.” First, accuracy. When the bullet is slow and long, you have to spin it faster. It is ideal for subsonic ammunition hunting because it expands at lower speeds. This will be the first subsonic, low-MOA cartridge. The fast twist is why. The Hi-Power is a revered gun. However, FN has made some changes to the model for 2022 to make it more modern. This is a noteworthy release considering that Springfield Armory just last month released an updated Hi-Power clone called the SA-35. It won the American Rifleman Handgun of the year award. STORY HERE. Which is better, the modernized American-made SA-35 or FN’s classic Hi-Power? The market will decide. Time will tell.
