FN Issues a Safety Bulletin, 502 Tactical Pistol or Safety Bulletin

A limited number of FN 502 tactical pistols may have a manual safety that was not properly installed. The external safety lever may not work properly, and the pistol could fire unintentionally if it is engaged.

This bulletin applies to FN502.22LR tactical pistols with a lower serial number than LR007999. This does not affect serial number above this range and they should still function properly. If your serial number falls within the range, FN will ask you to suspend use of your pistol and conduct a function check.

FN has provided details on how to perform the check. If you are unable to perform the check yourself, you can have it done by a local firearms dealer. You can also send it to FN Customer Service at 1-800-635-1321 if you prefer.

Checking Your FN502 Tactical

As with any maintenance on firearms, ensure you unload the magazine and pistol, and make sure there is no live ammunition in your area.

To eject the magazine, depress the magazine release. To eject the magazine, release the magazine’s button. Make sure your pistol is empty before you proceed to step 4. Make sure that the slide is in the correct position. Your pistol should be safely returned to storage until the next range session.

If your pistol releases the hammer while the safety is engaged, it must be serviced. This can lead to an unintentional firing event that can cause serious injury and death. Do not reload or use your pistol. For factory service, contact FN immediately
