One of the strongest arguments against gun control measures is the belief that current laws are sufficient. The enforcement of those laws is what isn’t sufficient or efficient. The problem is still apparent, but the Biden administration again calls for more gun control laws to be passed by Congress. This move is a further indication of how tone-deaf the administration is. A Rasmussen poll of 1,000 Americans found that Americans reject more gun control. The poll was conducted on January 30th and 31st, 2022. The poll asked the following questions. 2* Do the United States need to enforce existing gun control laws more strictly? 3* Which would do more for reducing gun violence in America: stricter enforcement of existing gun controls laws or new gun control laws? NOTE: Margin of Sampling error, +/- 3 percentage point with a 95% confidence level. The poll results show that 63% of Americans don’t believe we need more gun controls laws. They believe we need to enforce the laws in place. The poll is not surprising because it shows a wide range of opinions across parties. According to the poll, 63 per cent of Democrats want stricter gun control laws, while only 25 percent of Republicans agree. A complete reverse of the trend, 69 percent, 28 percent, and 53 percent, respectively, of Republicans reject stricter gun control laws. Because they have the most impact on elections, the 53 percent of unaffiliated are the most important. Different Paths According Breitbart’s report, Alan Gottlieb, executive vice president of Second Amendment Foundation, reacted to Rasmussen’s poll by saying that “Clearly, the American majority is on different tracks than Joe Biden.” It is disappointing but not surprising that 63 percent want stricter gun control laws. This suggests that the party may be out-of-touch with the majority of Americans.” The notion that new laws will solve any problem, when existing laws aren’t being enforced, is at best naive. It is evident that this is much more. If this was about public safety, Democrats might look at the laws in place and make sure they are enforced. Instead, they seem determined to reduce the severity of these laws. This has led to increasingly dangerous Democrat-run towns. But the American people are not fooled.
